Looks like 'gun ranges' are next....

Sensationalistic journalism. There seem to be key words that headline writers use to get people worked up emotionally. Anything to do with guns works. So does the word "truck". I read a headline this AM that claimed a truck drove through a Safeway store yesterday. The "truck" was an S-10 pickup, and it didn't go through, but did travel a considerable distance inside.

Who needs Fast And Furious to destroy out sport when our fellow shooters try.:(

It's called "Yellow Journalism." In our history, it has started war.
ANYTHING that comes out of ANY news outlet should be highly suspect of "stretching" any kind of matter out of context. I've been on the scene of incidents where the newsmedia had the case "solved" before the detectives arrived and lord help you if you got in their way doing so. In one case, I saw the end result on TV that night. What happened and what they "reported" were polar opposite.

The real problem is that people believe too much of what they say. These days, you'd probably get more real info out of the tabloids at the checkout line than you would ANY of the "real" media.

Journalism has gone the way of politics. It has become a disgusting shameful way to make a living.

They're not just reporting the news, they're improving it. If they modified their stories (fiction) to a more conservative bent, they'd never get it past their leftist editors. Or maybe the editors take the story as written honestly and just colorize it to make better reading. Remember, they're playing to the higher ups at the paper, not to truth or honesty.

Gun ranges have long been in the sights of some anti gun folks. And to others who just don't like it - it scares them. I belong to a club that puts on Jeep races. A couple of nights a year we run into the night. More afternoons we also fill the valley with engine sounds. Over the last 30 years there has been an influx of the civilized folks. They were attracted to the relatively cheap land. So they bought and built their dream homes. Now they want to complain about us disturbing their peace and ruining their dream homes. Doesn't matter that we were there first. Its kind of like the fools who built or bought a home near an airport. Who knew airplanes made noise? They want free sound deadening.

VT seems cursed and no LE job is "safe" whether it be in a ghetto or at a campus. The shooter obviously had some issues including GF problems according to some kids who attend nearby Radford. The VSP is one very secretive agency and are in no hurry to reveal any details and the anti-gun cult which developed from the prior event at VT has a great rapport with the liberal media. In that part of VA you don't even have to go to a range to practice your shooting, plenty of open space. ATF is always looking to shut down a range/gun shop for any reason they can find so this is nothing new.

If every time someone in the media mentioned "gun control" and used inflammatory language, and I let it bother me, I'd be on anti-anxiety meds. Complaining about these folks is like complaining about the weather. Do so if you want, but don't expect any changes.

It's no secret that the media has a anti gun bias. What I find shocking is that if you consider the fact that news casts are ratings based, the bias is what brings thier ratings. Ratings mean commercial selling. So business supports what has high ratings to get commercials seen. And the cycle continues when we then buy those products and services. So that stands to reason that more people than ever before are supportive of anti gun media or it wouldn't be so in our faces all the time. That is what I find shocking.

Gun ranges are where folks who buy guns can learn safety, proper use of the gun, and how to shoot it accurately. Gun banners would love to close down ranges because they think MORE gun accidents would happen and then it would be easier to pass new gun restrictions. If that sounds too conspiratory, well, we just saw that happen on a grander scale with Fast And Furious.

You don't have to go any further than Computer Internet News. It's more like a gossip column than news, which seems to take up 90% of the space. Hard to believe all the fighting and dying being done around the world, and it's hardly newsworthy to these idiots. Please don't call them journalists. Those folks are all dead and gone.
