Been looking around and I think the next addition to the family will be a Model 29, 44 mag. Just too nice to pass up.

Any idea what the going rate is these days? I looked on Bud's and they had one for under a grand.

Happy New Year,
Ryan Z.

A new one will run you about the same as a mint condition 29-2. The latter is a far better choice in my opinion.

Picked this one up for $550 at a gun show. It is a dash 3, unfortunately, and wears incorrect stocks. But good deals are out there.

Here in Houston there is a bit of a premium on nice ones. Probably around $900. less for blued and more for nickel. But that compares well to ones that are out of town for $800 plus shipping and FFL charges. And the good shops will stand behind the gun they sold you. Now just to find The One .:)

Another consideration here is whether you want a "collector grade" P&R or a "shooter".
You will pay a significant (in most cases) premium for a collector grade -2 or earlier revolver.
If you just want a great revolver to use, shoot and enjoy, the -3 and -4 models generally cost less and, in the case of the -4s, are more durable with the later "endurance" modifications.
I have both P&R and non P&R Model 29s in my collection.
Seems that the one I always grab first is a lowly -3 model that's the best shooter of the lot:

If you want a 6 inch around here they would go for around $650 to $700. The 6.5 inch and 4 inch would go for about $100 more.
