Lot tracking

What's your system for tracking different ammo batches with different components? Do you just keep them in a seperate container and labeled or is there some way you mark the individual round. When I reloaded shotgun ammo, I used to color the primer different colors for different lots. Just curious how others do it.

Separate container (reuse boxes) and I type the info on address labels and print them from the computer. How do you color the primers?

How do you color the primers?

Sharpie marker. I use this to mark my brass when a bunch of us are shooting together. It comes right off when you tumble the cases.

For lot tracking, I just separate by box and label accordingly. I'll keep a 3x5 card with the box for range notes. Then, if a Lot passes the test, I print up a full size sheet with the recipe, notes, etc. that goes into a binder for later recall.

How do you color the primers?

I used a Sharpie...when you punch the spent primers, there's no color left. I had a 3 x 5 card with the details of the color code. I may use this system for my .44s but if someone has a better idea.....

Use a data log that can be kept in a three ring binder, (you can either copy one or make your own.), and assign each different load a lot number.

Then keep all your different loads in seperate boxes that you can easily mark with that same lot number no matter how many boxes they are in.

I use painters Blue tape on the plastic ammo box with all info including the disc number of my Lee Disco Matic. That way I do not have to trial and error every time to get the exact weight.

I also put a Sharpie line across the bottom so when I pick up my brass I know it's mine.
