"The right of each citizen to keep and bear arms shall not be abridged, but this provision shall not prevent the passage of laws to prohibit the carrying of weapons concealed on the person."

This is how our "2nd" used to read. After the constitution was amended, it reads as follows:

"The right of each citizen to keep and bear arms is fundamental and shall not be infringed. Any restriction on this right shall be subject to strict scrutiny."

I'm not going to get into what strict scrutiny meand-y'all can look it up-but bottom line before any legislation can be enacted resricting this fundamental right, it has to be shown that it is the least restrictive way to accomplish a stated purpose which is a very high burden indeed. Citizens need to get their states to start passing their own laws. They cannot be in derrogation of the constitution, but can certainly be more expansive and grant greater rights than the feds.

Just left your fine state of Louisiana this week. Had a blast shooting teal and specks, with whatever else we decided to add to the limits. Fought the flooding rains in and out. SWLA needs a break.

Sent something similar to your post to our Senators last night, with a lot added. Thanks for your input.

I would have to look at the definition of strict scrutiny in Louisiana. But if you say it is a high test, and is enforceable, then I take your word for it. The Napoleanic Law code is of course foriegn to the other 49 states. Especially your neighbors :). We still have to register in La as a Foriegn Corporation ....LOL

I will assume they passed the revisions for the high test and for what they felt was some improved strength and resistance to the law as well as its enforceability. If it works - do it.
