I will be in Louisville,Ky Father's Day weekend and am looking for a good gunshop (or pawn shop) to check out. Any suggestions? I am looking for S&W revolvers in 90% +/- condition, pre-1970 if avaliable.
Thanks, Willyboy.

I believe the JAG show is at expo center that weekend that is a very good show . Pretty much anything your looking for you will be able to find.

A week late. JAG/Nat Gun Day is this coming w-end, June 9-10. Come a week early to see the good stuff as this is one of the better shows in the USA. :)

Oakwood Guns in Middletown is a good store but I doubt the shelves will be overflowing with old S&W revos. They did have a Colt Trooper 22lr that I've lusted after for a while but I won't pay $1000.

Orion guns (formerly Kieslers) in S Indiana is a good lgs. Another nice little s Indiana store is Falls City Firearms in Clarksville on Howard Ave just off Eastern Blvd. Just used guns and the owner, Rick, is as honest and straight as they come. He is a revolver guy too and there is nothing tactical in the store. One of my favorite local stops along with Orion.

Pawn shops are all over town but I've never had much luck finding quality guns. Good source for tools, though, as the Louisville economy is as slow as the rest of the country.

If u dont mind an hour drive, try "Buds gun shop" in lexington. Best thing to do is come a week early and to go the JAG show. I will deff be there!

Little Biff's Gun Room in what the locals call "Cosmosdale". It's actually located at: 13303 Dixie Hwy., Valley Station, KY., 40272, between Shepherdsville and West Point, right off of Highway 31w. It's just north of West Point, the home of the Knob Creek range.

They got a LOT of my money when I was stationed at Ft. Knox. It's the place where I got my 4" Model 29. When lived down there, they had a large collection of High Standard target pistols as well.

I'd also suggest Orion Arms in Jeffersonville, Indiana (just across the river from Louisville).
I don't know if it's the same place, but when I was at Knox in the '80s, there was a range in Jeffersonville that had a Hogan's Alley. They hadn't quite gotten the bugs worked out, but it was still fun.

Louisville trip

Thanks for all the advice; I will try to hit a few local shops you all recommended. Willyboy

Unless they've changed a LOT, I wouldn't bother with the pawn shops in the Ft. Knox area. When I was there in the '80s, they were usually INSANELY overpriced, and not especially honest. I got tired of listening to them lie to gullible customers about the guns they had and wrote them off.

If they're still open, Steck & Sons in Elizabethtown isn't that far, just up the road from Knox. They got a bunch of my money too.
