Went and shot my Remington 03A3 and I was quite proud of myself. Probably not that good for some of you young guys, but at 53 I was about to pop some buttons off my shirt(not the belly area). Showed my my wife, but she didn't act that excited so I thought I'd show you guys.

Nice 03A3 PJ. I also have a Remington that I bought from the CMP at the North Store, Camp Perry.

I have two M1s and really like them, however I probably shoot the Springfield more.

That is an excellent looking finish on that stock. When I got mine I had to "heat" the oil out of it over and extended time. After that I gave it a nice rub down with tung oil. That's all I did.

Thanks for sharing, nice target (even if the wife didn't say so.) My wife would have looked at the target and probably said something like "hey, they are not all in the center over the orange dot?" That's the way they would typically answer! lol

Sir, good on ya. That skinny front blade is hard to focus on, especially after age 40.

Your handload sounds very much like a Garand load. FWIW, my 4895 Garand loads aren't particularly accurate in my own '03-A3. You might consider trying around 54.0 grains of IMR 4350 with 175- to 180-grain bullets. That's a 1 MOA load in my gun.

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

Ron H. 1 inch MOA in a 03A3 thats awesome!Your right that was the load I used in my Garand when I had it.I never been much of a shot, but I love to go shooting.I'll try that load with IMR-4350.I bought a 1000 sierra 180 BTSP a few years back. They was seconds but I think they will be alright.

I have one of each a Remington and a Smith-Carona. I just took the SC out on Sunday for my clubs military rifle shoot. It does a lot better than I do

I had a Remington made 03A3 with two groove rifling. I was shocked at how accurate it was. I have had lots of rifles of all types but that rifle was one of the most accurate rifles I ever shot. With my 54 year old eyes, iron sights can be difficult to use well these years. You got a nice group. Rolling your own and having it do well is always fun.

You did great for Iron sights at 100 yards ! ! ! !
Military sights arent exactly target sights!

PJ, I have a SA 03-A4 with original barrel that I got from the DCM quite a few years ago. It does not print much better than your 03-A3. Especially with my coming up on 50 year old eyes, even through through the scope.
