Love Those N Frame Snubbies

Thanks guys i been wanting a model 58 in nickel w/4" barrel as my next ccw gun but i seen the snubbies here and at S&W today. That 41mag with the 2 5/8" barrel looks good too now. I may have to add another one on my want list. Looks like i'll end up with a lot of 41mags when i'm done. Bill

BTW; I can hide the snubbies better when i'm fishing.

Now this is strange. I have a model 24-3 .44 special and Roy Jinks has assured me that NO 24-3's with a pinned barrel were ever manufactured. Now it seems that Lew Horton had some pinned models made up. That makes me feel better to know that I'm not crazy .. yet.

Awaiting further developments and thanks to OP for showing his model.

Charlie

My Lew Horton 24-3 does not have a pinned barrel.

I don't believe any 24-3's came with a pinned barrel. The OP's 24-3 looks like an aftermarket pin job, as the pin looks too far back to be a factory job.

Ken, I haven't measured with a micrometer or caliper, but the barrel pin on my 24-3 looks to be in the same spot as those on my Model 27-2's, 25-2, 29-2, and 629.

I'll verify tomorrow.

N frame round butt stub nosed revolvers.

The top one is a 24-3 that has been nickeled. It is AEM184x and is not pinned.

Allen Frame, after looking at some of your fine collection, i see that not only people retire to Fla......so do fine revolvers:) Regards, Mike.

Got to love those 3" N frames!

Here's my most recent, 624 no dash from LH - 1985 mfg.

It's no longer unfired. :) Very accurate and loves the Skeeter load.

Here's one I had made in 89 or 90, I forget its been so long.

Started out as an 8 3/8" 629-2. I traded a 2.5" 686 for it. The 686 extractor rod was too short to push the brass out of the cylinder so I offed it. Some don't mind such things, but function is #1 in my book.

Plenty of modifications to speak of on this revolver. I had an original 3" LH barrel installed and Trijicon sights, glass bead blasted finish, Mag-Na-Port's Predator package, porting, rounded the butt, 11 degree forcing cone and ball bearing detentes on the crane for better lock-up - my own triple lock modification.

This 629 has been my constant companion in the woods ever since.

Great Looking N Snubbies!

Snapping Twig,

Two very good looking firearms. I especially like the 29!

As the OP,...

...I finally wrote to Lew Horton, seeking some information. They advised in their response that my Model 24-3 was indeed, a "Lew Horton Special". They also wrote that mine was one of 6300 purchased by them.

As to the pinned barrel, I have no clue. I examined with a ten-power loupe, and the hole looks to be drilled prior to blueing. The hole's position is in the same spot as my other "-2" N frames. I don't have any other answer for the anomaly.

This is a great thread, making me "Love Those N Frame Snubbies" even more.
