“Low number” Springfield 1903

"Remington Managed Recoil 30-06 Springfield Ammo 125 Grain Remington Core-Lokt Jacketed Soft Point Box of 20" advertises 50% reduced recoil. Midway has it for $23.49. Decent medium size game round and should be safe in pre 800,000 serial number rifles.

There are photos out there of a 1903 or ‘03A3 that had mistakenly been fired with ball ammo. Yes…the soldier that did so was killed.

Can you clarify this a bit? The comment was regarding ball ammo with the use of a grenade attachment. Is there a general concern about using ball ammo in an 03A3? I would think standard military ball is fine in an 03A3.

I left out some very important information...mea culpa. It was a 1903 or 1903A3 that had a grenade launcher attachment with a live grenade that the shooter inadvertently used ball ammo instead of the special grenade launching ammo.
