Lower rail

I want to add a bipod or vertical foregrip to my incoming m&p 10. I am new to AR style rifles and need suggestions on how to attach it or how to attach a lower rail so i can attach accessories to the bottom of my new rifle.

You can attach a picatinny rail to the handguard. I used a magpul rail on my MP 15 there are others available besides magpul that's just what the LGS had. I'm sure it can be done on this rifle. You will probably have to remove or modify the heat shield to attach the rail. I modified mine, just cutting out some metal. Here's some pics of what I did on my mp 15. Hope it helps.

The good news (well, bad news i suppose it depends on if your handguard gets hot), is that there is no heat shield in our handguards on this model. Its just the black plastic.

Can the hand guard be replaced with a standard AR quad rail?

I think a mid length rail will fit from what I've read in other threads.
