Lower recoil 357 mag range ammo for a 6" 686?

I dont think you should have any problem with factory 357 Magnum loads in a S&W 686 six incher.

I had a 4 incher and worked up some 187 gr cast gas check loads to 1300 fps. I was just starting to get a little kick from the stock target grips. Regular 158 gr factory loads seem mild to me due to the weight of the revolver. If recoil bothers you, get a set of Pachmayr Diamond Grips. Then shoot whatever loads you like.

Firing 38 Specials will not hurt your revolver. If it did, S&W would tell you.

Is that the aluminum cased stuff? I used to shoot that as a warm up before breaking out the 125 gr Remington JHP flamethrower stuff. This was also in a 686 with a 6" barrel.

That's the sfuff: good luck finding any (and at what co$t?)!

Cheers!
