Hey guys.

I've developed some light strike/failure to fire issues of late. Depends to some degree on the ammo, but I notice light firing pin markings in the fired/unfired cases. Occurrence is about 5% of the session rounds fired.

I shoot the gun mostly suppressed, so it runs dirty.

I have never disassembled and cleaned the bolt/pin parts.

DVP4XXX series gun with original BCG parts.

Question: Is it possible a dirty firing pin channel could cause this?

Thanks

When I started getting light strikes it was due to buildup on the bolt face. Cleaned that up (and the firing pin channel) and all was well again.

There's a 99.682 percent probability that your problem is caused by poor maintenance, ie, a gunked up firing pin channel. :)

If you don't want to disassemble the bolt to clean the channel, simply put the little plastic tube on a can of GunScrubber or similar product and blow the solvent through the channel from both directions until no further debris comes out. Then blow the channel out with compressed air (about 100 psi from a compressor, not a can).

DO NOT lube the channel with any kind of wet lube! If you feel compelled to lube it anyway, only use dry graphite - a couple of squirts is more than enough.

This should solve the problem for you.

That's a pretty high level of certainty Major. :)

Thank you.

I dissembled, cleaned, and fully dried out the bolt. The internals and the pin were very dirty.

It appears to have solved the problem. :D

All that is needed now is step by step for dumies like me w/pics.
cause I am 99.888 % certain I will scew it up :o

Don't have air compressor so I guess I would have to disassemble bolt.
But you know I was kind of joking. I only screw things up 80% of the time.
I will fall off that bridge when I get to it.
