I have never seen this type of red insert on a factory model 14-3, but never say never...letter time for the buyer?

IMHO The red insert is not original. It's not on the end label and most red posts are made differently.

I've not seen that before either, but I like it. Very good work, and a nice gun to boot.

Pop the grips off and see if there is a factory date stamped on the left flat.
May denote a return for some repair. It looks kosher.

Probably not. All the red post sights I have seen are square when seen from the rear, and they stand above the sight face instead of being flush like this one. Never have seen one that dated later than mid-1950s either!
