I was passing thru Lubbock this weekend on the way to a wedding north of there and stopped in at a Silver Spur-sponsored show at the Civic Center. I got there a bit early and, as I was waiting in line, the guy beside me told me he heard there was a mass shooting at Virginia Tech and this was the last gun show we would ever have in Texas. It got weirder. A guy about 5 behind me was preaching about the Prez's real name was Barry Harrison and he had proof because he had immigrated with him about 10 years ago. I heard him go into his spiel several times at different tables over the next 2 hours. That was the high point of the show.
I thought Houston show prices were high. I didn't see a model 19 under $700 and all had rubber stocks and were well used. Model 10s for $600 and up but did see my first 10-3. I took a couple to trade but never pulled them out. Almost pulled the trigger on a Winchester 97 but didn't think I could fit the 30" tubed gun in the little rickashaw I was driving. The only other gun I was vaguely interested in was a Mini-30 but the guy wanted $950 for it and he didn't look like he arrived in a good mood so I didn't even try to dicker. Plus I didn't think I had enough dicker in me for that price.
Got some cast .32 95 grain bullets for a .32 long and a box of Hornady SWC #4430 for $10. Found some Fiocchi .32 Long for $15 a box and snagged a couple of those. Best deal was the silver dealer who had just taken in a load of very nice Morgans and Peace dollars and was letting them go for a bit over spot.
Free parking and 2 for 1 entry for $5. Very few females inside walking around. Made for a boring walk.
