I have an SW40VE and it's my first striker fired handgun. Would like to know if lubricating the striker is recommended or not.

In the instruction booklet that came with my Sig P365 (my one and only striker fired and or polymer gun) specifically states NOT to lubricate it! I would think that they are concerned with oil attracting dirt and debris and jamming up the striker from smooth and normal operation.

When cleaning and lubing the pistol I make sure to keep oil out of that area. If I do accidentally get some in I will disassemble completely and dry out with patches and compressed air. They say NO OIL in the striker tunnel area either.

So that's a big NO, thought so. Just thought I'd double check. Thanks for the replies.

Lube on a firing pin/striker is likely to attract and accumulate debris and may turn gummy. The end result is the firing pin/striker no longer moves freely and you can end up with failures to ignite primers. In short, no lube on firing pins/strikers.
