Lucky 22LR find

Perhaps the Great Ammo Shortage of 2021 is finally easing. Seeing a few other ads for ammo at high(er) prices, but at least available.

Last week Scheels in Eden Prairie, MN had well over 1000 boxes of 100ct CCI standard velocity at $9.99/bx. Yes, they had a 100 round limit/person so bring in some "friends".
CCI has been turning up at a couple of local LGS in the Minneapolis area on a fairly regular basis and 10¢/round seems to be a pretty common price.

The ammo will keep showing up at elevated prices until you folks that are so eager to buy have your closets full (this may be quite a while), then the prices will drop so the average folks can afford to buy and shoot some.

I don't know what are "elevated prices". I talked with a couple of Federal Cartridge employees last Saturday and they say their raw materials have increased over the last three months on a steady basis. On the good side, I hear there will be three new primer making machines online in the near future. Where and when I do not know.

I dont expect to see prices drop to exactly what they were before this all started. Just thinking about freight for goods and materials in and out, that is much higher than pre-covid. Heck some of the truck lanes i have to ship goods thru are up 50-60%, at some point that increase is passed on.
Back on track, nice to see the manus at least offering ammo on their sites, and if I have to pay a dime a round for good quality 22..... well these days i can be happy with that.

I also had a lucky .22 ammo find. I was looking for a mag that I was going to pass on to a buddy, and when I found it in the bottom of a plastic tote, I also found two boxes with a little over 1000 rounds of .22 ammo

I was able to buy four 50-round boxes of Aguila 22LR at a local sporting goods store this morning for $.08 per round. Wish I could have bought more!

Well, in my humble opinion, if you guys think you are "lucky" paying those prices, the rest of us will never see the shortage end; and, if it does end, we won't like the prices. Shortages are designed to raise prices... as I've mentioned before, that's how de Beers keeps diamond prices high (for rocks they find in the ground).

Yep, bring friends and relatives so you get your "fair share".
Uncle Zeke, that could not get to the until after he got off work, will just have to try again next time. Or, he could buy it on line, from the fellow that brought friends and family, to clean the shelves. (BTW, probably at least 150% of the store price).
The Flippers B flipping.

Yeah, no kidding. $100 for a brick. 8 cents a round.????

I'm glad I stocked up when the idiot on the 6:00 news uttered the word Pandemic. And years before when they announced **** got elected.

I didn't cause the shortage and I'm not feeding the fire. Thanks to y'all for screwing the rest of us.

If you didn't prepare, just wait it out. Go work on your garden in the meantime...

Shortly after getting the 22LR at CCI, I found some 9MM on the Federal website. 124gr FMJ American Eagle and 115gr Champion Training FMJ at $27 for 50 rounds and Personal Defense Punch 115gr HP $21 for 20 rounds. Two box limit on each. The cheapest I've seen anywhere else are $36 and $29 respectively.
Most stores in my area are selling 9MM FMJ for $50 a box.
I know a lot of guys are saying "Don't buy at these high prices" but I think the prices I paid direct from manufacturer are fair, especially when they ship for free with $100 purchase.

The up side is that in about 18 months, after the economy goes belly up and people are scraping for rent money, the market will get flooded with all the guns and ammo that were bought in a panic. Stuff will be selling at 10 cents on the dollar.

I disagree this all started with the word "pandemic" on the 6 o'clock news as mentioned above. This all started with the riots that started last year and the three letters "BLM" and the cries to defund the police. People rushed to the gun stores for one reason....to defend themselves and their families. The pandemic made things worse after a few months when work forces were cut back and raw materials needed by the industry were in short supply. Throw in the 2020 election and a few mass shootings and the resulting demand for gun control.....IMO that's why things are the way they are.

Hey guys just an fyi that Cci's site has the 50-ct Std Vel available this am, I was able to grab 10. Even with shipping it's just over a dime a round; i gladly will pay that so i can go plinking with m grandson.

Uncle Zeke had 2 opportunities to buy online from CCI directly BEFORE he went to work (what he should've been doing was buying every week from the fall of 2016 to spring of 2019 when ammo was the cheapest it has been in history adjusted for inflation). He choose not to but instead wanted to be stubborn and do it the hard way by driving to a brick and mortar store AFTER work.
Guess what- no ammo.
I absolutely love the current environment! Been making a mint selling it to the LGS's because of Uncle Zeke's and his kind.
