Any of you guys ever notice that some guns are just "lucky" ??? You get one and always see game when you carry it or it just seems to be really accurate at the range when your buddies are around?? Doesn't it always also seem like the gun you really want the most is not one of the lucky ones like that??? Maybe I am just imagining things but the few I have really been set on either wouldn't shoot {accurately}, jammed alot and refused to work or I go hunting and miss an easy shot at close range or just not see any game. Always wanted a Browning Hi-Power...blown it up twice in one year...wanted a 270 Weatherby since high school, when I did manage to see game I missed it. I could probably walk out in the back yard and kill a Boone and Crockett record deer if I loaded my old Marlin and opened the window!!! Happen that way for any one else??? I have several S&W guns but none I really had to have, maybe that's why I have a good time with them.

3 of them: I've had an old octagon barreled .22 Savage model 72 since I was a kid that seems to shoot like it has heat-seeking bullets. Also notice my 2" S&W model 317 that lives in my survival pack gets lucky awfully regular. The other one is my model 60-15 .357 3" heavy barell.
Mine is a pre-'64 Win. Model 70 made in 1948 in 270 Win. I inherited it from my Grandad. Never missed an animal I've shot at with it, never had to fire more than one round and never lost one. That includes coyotes, mule deer, elk, antelope and Big Horn sheep. It is by far the luckiest rifle I've ever owned.

I have a 7mm mag. in rem mod 700 that I bought new in the 60' when they came out. It has one shot kills at all distances deer, bear,elk, moose, coyotes and a few other misc. It is kinda like pointing your finger and whatever is in front of it falls over. I do feel bad though the last several years I have been hunting with my 54 cal muzzleloader, it's a hoot..I also have a mod 25-5 45 colt that does ok for itself, it lives with me in the outdoors, and a j frame 38 that lives with me any other time.

Sears and Roebuck Ranger, .22 s-l-lr. The gun is actually a Marlin model 80 that was made for Sears. I have had it 51 years and it is still beautiful and very accurate. I got it for Christmas in 1959 and killed a big buck with it the next March. We were poor and the meat was needed at the time. Since then I have probably killed 4 or 5 others with it and never had to shoot one more than one time.

A Remington 700 BDL 30-06 that I bought new. After sighting in the scope, I've shot 3 Whitetails (2 8pts&1 7pt) with 3 shots. Loaned it to a friend who shot 1 Whitetail with 1 shot. I'd guess it's "lucky"

We have a family knife that might count. It's an old Ka-Bar that my dad was issued in WW2. The leather handle was replaced with aircraft Plexiglas, which if I remember right came from a TBM. He carried it in WW2 and Korea, in the 50's he gave it to my oldest sister. When my BIL went to SVN in '67 he took the knife with him. My older brother had the knife for the last part of his Navy tour and I was given the knife after his discharge in 1970 for use in Boy Scouts. I also had the knife during Desert Storm, though I was not overseas. One of my nephews has had the knife for the last 8 years, he is in some sort of Navy security team and travels quite a bit.
So the knife has been carried and used by a family member in every war since WW2, and every family member has come home.

All my guns seem to have the opposite effect. You can bet that if I'm hunting with someone a trophy of some kind or all the game will either fly or run right in front of him.

I have 2; a Remington model 11 and a Browning Sweet Sixteen. And no matter what sort of bird or furry critter jumps in front of either, they're as good as in the pot!
And both belonged to my Grandpa who was a life long hunter and fisherman, as long as there wasn't a baseball game on!

DaleI traded a Marlin 45-70 lever for a used, but not abused, Ruger #1 in .30-06.
hunted with it for 18 years. 18 deer (one per year) with a total of 19 shots (my miss on the first shot was hunting with father-in-law; second shot made the kill).
My oldest son shot his first deer with it when he was 15; he is now 40. I gave him that rifle last year. He will cherish that rifle forever.
