The story is too long, to tell as to how I came upon these today. But i'll say, its been stored in a dry box inside a gun safe for many years.

This 5.56 M1A3 has a head stamp of 1-85 (1985). M1A3 was made up until 1988ish when the M1A4 started into production. So this is some well kept ammo from back in the day. It also happens to be some of the better ammo from its time. Lucky me, beings .223/5.56 is hard to find right now. I bet this stuff is even harder to find, lol.

I believe that is South African , berdan primed ammunition. Never shot any but their .308 is good stuff.

I just dug out an old partial case of Winchester Q3131 (American). I'm taking it to the gun show this weekend in case I find anyone who needs some. It's true 5.56 ammo, not 223, there is a pressure difference.

Looks like the South African in the tan battle packs they were selling back in 99-01 for $18/200. One of those battle packs is now over $100 if you can find any. It really is good stuff.

On that Q3131, if it is Q3131A then it was made by IMI in Israel and is considered better than the plain Q3131. That won't last 5 minutes at a gun show.
