Where is all of the 41 mag ammo

Even before the ammo shortage .41 mag was largely a roll-your-own thing.

Good news is it's a dead easy cartridge to load. Buy some bullets, powder, primers, brass, and with a lee hand press, dies, and a powder scoop you can make better ammo than you could buy (if there was any to buy).

41 ammo

Have you priced 41 Mag ammo lately? Even if you can find it, the factory stuff is ~$2.50/round. Reloading is the only way to go, if you plan on shooting it at all. Get some reloading stuff off Ebay, buy some brass from Starline, get primers and powder and bullets at your local gun shop or show, and get started. It is easy and fun, and, for the price of 100 rnds. of factory fodder, you can get some good, used equipment that will last a long time. Join the crowd-we're out here.

Welcome to the forum! As already said, the .41 Mag has always been hard to find and expensive. With the current backlog of ammo for sale I would say the .41 is probably last on most ammo list's. So we have another plus for a very good reason to take up reloading!

It is indeed a great cartridge to reload for. Back in the 70's, I was shooting a 14" scoped TC barrel in .41 mag. You could load easy target loads or push it to the limit....and it would perform either way. I don't have it any longer, but I wouldn't hesitate to pick up another handgun in .41 mag should the opportunity come along.

I have a feeling .41 Magnum ammo will be easier to find in the future. Since S&W has released their M57 and M58 I think the market need will increase so the supply will too. Ammo suppliers don't really care about you but they do care about sales. If there's a market they will fill it.

There is a bunch of it in my basement. As most have stated, if you are going to shoot the 41, you need to reload.

Slim's Gun Shop, just south of San Antonio, TX. has a bunch. All you need to do is call ahead and let him know your coming so he can reload what you need.

Truthfully, I reload all my 41 stuff, as well as the rest of it. Only way to go.

. 41 Mag was the first cartrige I reloaded -- It was easy to reload and fun to shoot -- I currently have two Mod 57's (4"&6") and love them both:)
