m-14 front sight

I have a m-14, with serial number k374xxx, and a previous owner filed on the front sight, now it shoots high.
Was the front sight removable on the 8 3/8 barels? this onw seems to be pinned.
Is there a source for front sights for the k38's?

That is the Patridge sight. It is pinned and they are replaceable. I would call S&W. If they have the sight I would consider sending it to them for replacement.

If you feel confident about replacing it yourself, gunparts.com is a possible source. Their parts are used, taken from salvaged guns.
