I recently found another M21, .44 S&W Special, 4" nickeled with iron sights and brought it home. Had nearly given up finding a new S&W in nickel plate and I have always like the big N-frames with iron sights. This makes two for me and they are home to stay.

Congradulations:
I love the 44 special
I have a 21-4 that I bought new with Ahrends grips last year. I load 200 gr RNFP over 5.5 grains of win 231. The first time I shot that gun, two of my 5 shots missed the paper all together at 20 yds. However when I went downrange to retrieve my target I could see that three of my shots were in the same hole. The size of the whole group was about 1.25". I chalked that one up tobeginners luck. Subsequent trips to the rang have proved that it wasn't beginners luck. That pistol will shoot cloverleafs for me almost half the time. Thats a good gun and I like the fact that the front sight is thicker than the half moon sights on the Old Smiths. I have trouble seeing the thin front sights on the old models. From what I hear the model 21-4 is set up for 200 gr bullets point of aim at 20 yds.
My Ruger seems to do best with 255 gr RNFP over 7 to7.5 grains of Unique. It also handles the lighter loads almost as well.

Now you've done it!
Nobody can run a 21-4 thread without getting a pic of MINE!

That's 6 rds. DA at 10 yds.
I have a Model 24-3 6.5", and the 21-4 groups just as good. Shooting double action the target gun doesn't even come close!
The 21-4 handles like a RB 'K' frame. Just great!
My standard load is a 240 gr SWC over 5.5 gr of WW 231 and shoots POA. Speer Gold Dot 200 gr HPs hit 1.5" lower.
I 'kinda' like this gun.

Nice coloring on the frame, love the heat treat swirls!
Have any idea of the value on a 21-4 Thunder Ranch in .44 Special?

I am still kicking myself for not getting a new Model 21 when I had the chance. I'm interested in hearing more about this fine old revolver from those who own one. Living vicariously through you until I find one.

Just bought one-all blue-online. It's being shipped from Texas right now. Seller says it looks like it has not had much use, and it looks like new in the pics. Putting the small old style S&W grips on it, with a T grip. Wanted one for a long time, and finally had the right gun and the money come together. Should have it next week.

I like mine a lot

I put some Ahrends retro target conversion grips on her and she feels as good in my hand as my 'ol model 28-2. Couldn't seem to fall in love with the round butt grip though.

Oh Yeah!

My good ol mod21-4 Thunder Ranch Special sets at hand as I type. I was thrilled to get the gun, then I went to the range. OH WOW, don't know why but it is the best shooting handgun I own. Makes me look like I'm a good shot. I congratulate you on your new firearm. May she serve you well!:D

These sold out for 569.00 delivered when discontinued with a lifetime warranty. What's not to like. This is the third one I have owned.
