need a lot of rookie help, had a M 27 in the 70's , Any ball park prices for a same vintage 5".??...not for show but near excellent,
Does a box/papers add huge value, or for a non-collector (as myself)...and I'm only going to shoot once in awhile.
I would like a smith cardboard box - only for presentation /. I personally like the look of target grips, but magna preferred for resale someday.....pinned? cylinder recessed ? yikes, help !...thanks

M27-2 and earlier were pinned and recessed.
Try to get one of those.

5in barreled 27s seem to bring a bit more that the more common 4 or 6in. Don't know if they were actually fewer made , but that 5in tube just looks and balances just right!

For me, the presentation case and tools does significantly alter how much I am willing to pay.

If you can find the combination you are looking for priced at $700 I would jump on it. I would not part with mine that cheap

I would agree on the 6 inch barrel but the 4 inch in the 27-2 is a much rarer revolver than the 5 inch.

I believe it would take a long hunt for an excellent 27 for less than $900 range.

That is certainly true around here in IL. Sometimes I see the prices people value guns at on the forum and wonder where they are finding them so cheap. I certainly never do!
