M-63

my M-63 has the S & W trademark on the left side of the frame under the cylinder release. I always assumed that the trademark would be on the right side unless the gun was to be engraved. it is also doesn't have a pinned barrel even though it is not marked with a -1. the serial number dates to 1987. I assume these are just oddities that S & W is noted for?

I have M19's with the logos on different sides.

My understanding is that S&W would run off a batch of guns with the logo on the left every so often in order to have some stock on hand if an engraving job came in. If they didn't get engraved they went into the normal pipeline after a while.

i checked all of my other revolvers and the trademark is on the right side. I bought the M-63 new in 1987 and it took me this long to notice the difference while cleaning it this morning. I guess I should pay more attention to things.

All my S&W's (including a model 63) have the logo on the left side. Am I missing something here? The sideplate is on the right side, so if the logo was on the right, it would have to be on the side plate. I have never seen a Smith with the logo on the right side. Are ya'll messin' with me?
