M-651...Maybe it's the extra cylinder?

I really wanted a 651

But I probably wouldn't buy two for the prices they fetch now. The last one I asked about on Gunbroker (GB) was $700 BIN I think and it had dents on the cylinder from dry-firing. I gave up after that. I'll just have to be happy with my 351PD. Those have also gotten stupid. I saw a new one on GB go for $1400 recently and used ones going for $700-800. I got mine NIB in 2008 for $509.

Obviously all guns have been getting crazy lately but the Smith revolvers surprise me. Luckily I got on my Smith revolver craze last year before things got nuts and got most of what I wanted for reasonable prices.

Even Ruger MKII pistols have gotten expensive over the past few months. I don't even enjoy browsing GB anymore.

maybe a shill bidder and gun not really sold at that price? stranger things have happened. think this might be a subject for mr. jarrett or david carroll.

If you look at the guns in that collection, most were NIB and sold for big money. There was a 34 Pinto that brought over two grand...

Strange things happen in auctions...you as a Seller pray that two or three people get into a bidding war... I've had it happen several times over the years that something sells for way more than the going price.
