I just bought a M and P 9mm and was trying to switch out the grips to see which fit me best. Is there a certain way to get the current grip off. It says to turn 1/4 and pull down and grip will come off but I can NOT get it to budge. I do not want to break anything. Am I just not pulling hard enough to break it loose.

Thanks,

The 1st few times that the "tool" is removed and replaced, it may be QUITE tight. Just rotate the "tool" 90', either way, and pull. You might try looping a bit of string under the parts that stick out and pull on that.

"turn 1/4"
Not sure what you meant, maybe you turned it enough, but maybe you didn't. Make sure the tool looks like a rudder on the pistol, a 90 degree turn.........and pull (a little twisting is helpful)
I have 4 M&Ps, none came with the preferred backstrap in place..........two were pretty easy, two were bitches, since I am feeling a little bit of 'itis in my joints these days.

Take the mag out of the gun. With the muzzle facing away from you put the bottom of the grip on a table top with the take down tool hitting the edge of the table. Turn the pistol, keeping the tool against the table edge. Keep doing this until the tool has gone through 90 degrees and then start pulling the tool out. It's not easy the first few times.

All this only after the gun is safely unloaded.

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure it would not break. Shot the gun yesterday and it is a dandy.
