M&P FPC

First time post. I recently picked up a FPC and it has the fin grip, I’m Illinois and not in California. I was told that the back strap can be removed and I can put any 2.0 backstrap on in its place. The problem I’m having is the frame tool does not turn at all. Am I stuck having to dremel the fin off? The fin is not required in Illinois, so I’m not breaking any laws by removing it.

Take a good look at the bottom of the grip tool. I bet there are a couple small torx screws that if removed will allow the grip tool to turn.
Then remove the fin and replace with a standard M&P 2.0 Compact backstrap.

There are two tiny ones, remove them both? Also, would it make sense to buy a new/standard frame tool to replace it?

Yes both.
You could get a 2.0 Compact grip tool too if you want.

I can put any 2.0 backstrap on in its place.

Not quite, the FPC takes the compact backstraps. Think 15 round model, not 17 round model.
