Here's my report from my first outing. Before firing, I cleaned factory lube, and Frog Lube clean and lube. Used American Eagle 149 gr. rounds. I had a rough start. Fired twice, ftf. Fired twice, ftf. I removed magazine, reinserted. No problems after that. Both ftf were identical. The bolt wedged the round close to the top of the casing. Both rounds bent. It had less recoil than I anticipated. Muzzle rise was pretty significant. Very accurate, though I was only at 50. I was just wanting to get ACOG on paper. Actually it was just about on out of the box. Overall I was very happy with first outing (with the exception of those first ftf's. I put another 60 rounds through it with no issues.

Congrats...My first outing after cleaning and lubing with standard slip 2000 I had no issues at all. Next week I am going to try and get to the 100 yard range and see how i do...

The ftf may have been the result of new pmag. I'm going to stretch spring a tad, see if that helps.

Explain please. My best bud, who was Iraq combat vet, Army Ranger 10 yrs, MP, and SRT team leader advises otherwise.

I haven't used p-mags (dont have any/just magtech steel ones) and haven't had a ftf yet, regardless of ammo (i never use any steel or steel cased ammo, only good stuff i/e federal/ect. that is brass and reloadable). Are the p-mag's problematic? I have always heard they are top-shelf mags and work great..just curious...also-I use clp or froglube, and both seem to work great...and I do ALOT of cleaning per my old 0311 mantra of "a clean rifle is a rtu tool of death" (us Marines are a weird bunch I'll admit) Maybe I just lucked out and got a "good" M&P 10 vs. all of the ones I read about here...anyway very happy with my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is MINE!!!! Semper Fidelis!

There were lots of reports of issues with factory steel mags. S&W started using the pmag from new production and I have seen nothing bad against them, mine seem fine in both 10 and 20 cap. And no sharp edge on cases!

Clean is usually good on an AR, but well lubed is better! These things should rock out 100's of rounds if not a thousand if the AR15 is any example!
