Just a little piece of advice ...

The 15-22 is not an AR-15. It does not require much in the way of lubrication. Over lubing can often cause the problems you are having.

The only lube that is necessary on a 15-22 is a single drop of CLP, or something similar, on each bolt carrier rail, a single drop on the bolt stop latch and a single drop on the trigger and hammer pins. If you can actually see the lube on the surfaces, you have probably used too much.

Do not lube the bolt body, the firing pin channel or anything else.

then you have to pull the clip
PS - 15-22s use magazines; there's no modern firearms that use "clips". :)

If you have the tool, I suggest checking the barrel nut to verify it is tight enough. If you can't fix the problem, just send the gun back to S&W. If you read the threads here, many folks have done so & their gun comes back working properly.

Great advise guys either barrel, over oiled or maybe bent extractor.
However if that was the issues, wouldnt most round fte?
Oil is my guess

I have tried both ways dry with hardly any oil and wet - this particular gun fires much better wet. Not dripping - just not bone dry either. I have read most of the threads and am not going to mod a brand new gun - let the factory make it right. I can't believe they don't test fire guns to know that they can run properly....

You must be happy of your abilities to be perfect all the time....

Actually, I'd say the Major is one happy dude. If you note, he gave you a happy face. He knows this gun, and many others, better than most here & is always happy to assist. Being a man of the cloth, he knows he's not perfect but does like folks to use proper terminology when discussing guns. I would consider this a teaching moment and not get so bothered by the correction.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the info. No offense taking by the correction, and it didn't teach my anything I don't already know. I just do not like nazi grammar police... really childish to correct someones spelling / terminology --- we all know a clip in todays weapon probably means a mag ... my two cents anyway...

I understand your thoughts on this, however, using correct terminology goes a long way towards other people understanding what you are saying. Yes, most people do understand what is meant when some people say "clip" when they are referring to a magazine, but newer shooters may not.

What the heck has happened to our country? Why the lack of pride in doing & saying something correctly? Why the need to deride someone for correcting inaccuracies? Nazi grammar police... really? In this society today everyone is a winner & gets a trophy.

And no, not everyone knows clip is incorrect for this gun, so the incorrect use of terminology can impact others. I am thankful for folks like the Major that take the time to impart their knowledge. Just wish there was a way to give a thumbs down or dislike to whiny posters.

Wow... holy smokes... you gotta be kidding... no help coming from here.. I'll stop there before I ....

ya.....

Probobly not yer best course of Action...

Just sayin

What is sad is when watching US shows and they have to sub title the people speaking english on the show.
Anyway guys back to guns!
Atleast he isnt shooting a 715 or 10/22

I have gotten used to this forum being quite sensative. People are quick to point things out that dont matter. Or express their opinions even if it isnt the topic your trying to debate.

No need to point out a clip is now a magazine....

We all knew what he was talking about just help him with his question. To correct him is to be rude. Tomato/Tomaato, Crayon/Crown Soda/Pop Grandpa/Popo/Pop who cares we know what you mean and thats the point.

However, I have come to see this as the usual around here just check out my .22lr hunting round thread. Too many folks feel they need to imprint each thread with their own will instead of just being helpful and staying on topic.

For the "NEW SHOOTERS" that may not know a clip is a mag the end of the barrel is the dangerous part.... Actually nevermind if you cant figure out clip/ mag usage go ahead fire away Darwin is always there to thin the heard and I definitly dont you reproducing into our already ignorant population.

Get over it guys no need to give him a hard time.

As four de gramr Notsees I aint seen much of dat.....

It's always interesting when people get hyper when their mistakes, errors and such are corrected. Reminds me of dealing with my preschool grandchildren. :D

I'm always amazed how easily today mediocracy and ignorance are accepted as the norm and attempts to correct them are met with derision and ridicule ... sad, really.

Back on the subject of this thread............my M&P15-22 had fte for over a year before I finally sent it back to S&W. It did run well with CCI mini-mags but I didn't want to have to run those all the time. When it came back it performed flawlessly and has ever since. Any kind of ammo. Don't know what they did to it but I'm glad. It is a very fun gun to shoot!

Two things come to mind:

1) Language is REALLY important and the ability to be correct and precise with words is a good thing. Having a large vocabulary and using it correctly commands respect.

2) If Obama (or any democrat/gun control proponent) were to get on TV or be quoted about high capacity clips, the gun folks have no issues grilling them about not knowing what they're talking about. There's no reason we should get a pass if they don't.

Personally, as long as someone is polite with me I appreciate being told when I say something improperly or use the wrong terms. My ego is small enough that I know I can be wrong and I appreciate that the person that told me is preventing me from possible further embarrassment down the road. It's no different than having something stuck in your teeth or leaving your fly open. I would definitely rather ne notified!

Then again I guess some people would prefer to walk around with their fly open.

I used to call them clips.... not any more.

Thank you, this is what I intend to do.
