Well first off i new to the forums and this is my first question. I was looking at getting my first Ar and the S&W m&p 15 sport caught my eye. Ive looked online and cant find alot of bad reviews about this gun and the price is very good. So my question is ive looked at youtube reviews of it and ill see one with the magpul pop up rear sight and then ill see another with a fixes rear sight thats kinda high off the mount. So is there a diffrent model or new vs old kinda thing?
Ps i want the one with the pop up sights the fixed one looks knida ugly to me.

I may be wrong on this but I believe that the flip up sight became standard on the Sport. That's what came with mine and that's what I've seen on all the others offered for sale. I actually replaced mine as I prefer a rear sight that allows for click adjustment for windage and elevation.

If you go to the smith and Wesson site they list all the sports as coming with the Magpul folding rear sight. The photo's from cabela's are probably stock photo's.

The fixed rear back up sight was standard up until last year I think. All the new sports now come with the Magpul folding sight. Great gun. Love mine.

the sport models available now are equipped w/ the magpul mbus folding rear sight. its really nice & if you add optics you can fold it away for back up

Yes a new vs old thing. I got a Sport the 1st year they were out. It came with a fixed rear sight that was a copy of a LMT sight, looks like a M16 sight with the carry handle cut off. Some time later they switched over to the Magpul sight.

I am very pleased with the MapPul flip up rear sight that came on my Sport. It works out well with the AimPoint PRO I added to my carbine. If my carbine had not come with one I would have had to have added it.
