M&P 15 TS

I was thinking about possibly buying one of these when I happen to see one at the LGS's and I was wondering what you gent's thoughts were on this model?

It appears that the barrel twist is 1-7 rather than 1-9 for starters.

M&P 15TS

I just purchased one about 2 months ago. Paid double! Great Rifle! Awesome looking. I love the Troy free floating hand guard. The one thing I didn't think all the way through though is the flash suppressor welded on (solder on). I really want to set this up for 3 gun, so I would like to put a muzzle brake on. I would have to change the barrel to do this. I might as well just buy another upper then. Haven't researched to see if I could drill out, unthread, clean up the threads, put on muzzle brake and re solder. would it be legal??? other than that I love this rifle.

Should be legal as long as whatever muzzle device you put on it is permanently attached and keeps the overall barrel length at 16" or greater.

I think it would be easily done if done by a gunsmith and legal. Should only be a pin in the barrel that's welded to the flash suppressor. The bake will be installed it the same manner if your state requires it to be.. George

Love my TS however one thing I find mildly annoyoying is adding/removing rail sections. It can be done without removing the guard but its easier to just take it off. If you want to add a section in the middle of the guard (even when it is removed) it is difficult to hold the nut in place while you put in the screw. Also, there is not much clearance under the gas block due to the Troy guard being so slender so mounting a vfg there proved difficult. Had to use a longer than necessary rail section and Noveske low profile mounting nuts to get my vfg where i wanted it. Other than that I love the gun.

Hi All,

I'm new to the AR world and the M&P15TS was my first purchase. I want to clean it before I take it out for the first time, and it seems the take-down pins are a bit sticky (won't move). I've seen posts on the web where you can push the pins with your finger instead of a punch, but it seems a punch is the only option. Anybody encounter this?

Bolt is in forward position and safety is on. Do I just need to punch it?

Any guidance/help would be greatly appreciated.

Ostego, yes just push it through. Mine was the same way.

As you use the rifle, things will wear in and loosen up a little. Once you break it down a few times, you should find that you can start pushing them out by hand.

TS stock

I'm going to change my TS's MOE folding stock for another Magpul stock (ACS?) with more cheek support.
What I don't know is, is the TS stock Mil or Civil size? I can't find the info...

My S&W M&P 15-TS was my very first AR.

After sixty-five years of shooting, including a twenty-five year career as a gun writer, I finally saw the light .... ARs are accurate and sensible rifles.

After a bit of research, I bought an M&P 15-TS and have never regretted the decision. It fits well, handles perfectly, is superbly accurate and never fails.

What's not to like?

Cypher text, thanks, I thought so but wanted more informed opinions bef. cranking out $100+ for the CTR or ACS stock.

My only complaint re. my TS is the diffiiculty getting rail sections on the Troy hand gard; I've done it, but it wasn't exactly 'convenient'.
