M&P 15 TS

Ouch, I bought mine a month ago for MSRP. Around 1150

Msrp a month ago was $ 1150? I'm not calling you a liar, but something is wrong if the TS MSRP right now is $1569 on the website.

I always thought maybe the website was wrong. The T is msrp of $1159 and can be had online for about that same money, but the TS is msrp of $ 1569 and I saw an online price of $1250.

So what gives?

The S&W web site does say $1569. That's a huge markup for a $200(MSRP) handgaurd + a long flashider. Of course MSRP is usually a price nobody pays but the gubberment, as dealer you can give you customer a nice big discount off the MSRP price! Just like a car or refrig or.....

$1569.00 at my local Cabelas. I was with a friend of mine yesterday when he bought one there.

The MSRP for the TS has always been $1,569 not $1,159 (that's the "T" version not the TS).

The TS also includes the Magpul grip, stock and buis's - plus it's a 14.5" 1:7 twist barrel with a pinned Vortex flash hider and a low profile gas block (not sure if that would add to the cost or not).

Vortex Flash Suppressor: $60
Magpul MOE Stock: $55
Magpul MOE Grip: $22
Magpul MBUS Sights: $90
Troy TRX Alpha Rail: $190

(all prices above from Brownell's website)

So not considering if a low profile gas block, 14.5" 1:7 twist barrel or the added expense of pinning the Vortex to it add to the base cost - you're looking at about $417 in accessories on the TS version. Add that to the $1,159 base on the the T version you're at $1,576 for a TS - I'd say the msrp of $1,569 is a fair starting point.

Better deals can be had - as I said previously, I paid $1,348 for mine back in November.

I bought mine last fall and the MSRP then was $1,569.

Like you, Bill, I added up all the added goodies and it was well worth the asking price.

I paid $1,250 for mine and the dealer threw in five 30-round Pmags. An excellent value, even pre-Sandy Hook.

As I mentioned before, I was a gun writer for almost 25 years and I did my research by asking folks I know in the trade. The S&W M&P is not only an excellent AR, but the TS is one of the "Best of Breed." And I love the 1/7 barrel twist-rate.

One of my ARs is a Noveske Thunder Ranch Edition and I'm not sure which I love best, the Noveske or the M&P 15 TS

On the Internet, if there is no photo, "It never happened." Below are two photos of my Noveske Thunder Ranch.

God Bless Your Day,

Steve

wanted a TS. Held a VTAC today. Getting that instead. TS still a good rifle though.

Yes, as stated in specifications from their website:

Chromed Components: Barrel Bore, Gas Key Chamber, Bolt Carrier. Barrel Material: 4140 Steel

Product: Model M&P15 TS

Clarification from S & W:

Hi,
The TS upper and rifle barrel is: 4150 (Our website states 4140 on the rifle page, but it's a mistake.) CMV Chrome lined bore & chamber, 1/7 twist, 6R rifling, 14.5" with permanently attached vortex flash hider (16.1 total length) chambered in 5.56 NATO (It is NOT Melonite coated.) with a pinned low-profile gas block and carbine length gas system.

Hope that helps. Thanks, S&W
