M&P 2.0 Compact .40 to 9mm barrel swap??

I'd like to change the caliber on my M&P 2.0 Compact .40 cal to 9mm as that's the caliber of everything else I own. I could have sworn I had a link to a barrel swap about a year ago but can't find it.


Can it be done with a simple barrel swap? Mag swap, too? If so, how about a link to everything.

Most of others stopped doing .40-to-9 conversion 2 years ago due to lack of sale.

Thanks. $200 and a 5 mo lead time. FMR. Can I use my .40 mags or do I need 9mm specific mags?

You will need to use 9mm mags.

You can call KKM Precision and ask if they do any trick to .40 mags.
9 mm ammo won't hold tight enough in .40 magazine.

I simply bought an OEM 9mm barrel from Midway USA, but I'm not sure they still sell them? I also got a couple OEM 9mm magazines and I've never had any issues using my original version M&P40C with them. I also have a newer 15-round 9mm magazine with an x-grip sleeve that works perfectly too. I do prefer it in 40 though, but the 9mm is nice to practice with. Storm Lake used to make a conversion barrel that can be hard to find. You might check Numrich gun parts and believe it or not, eBay.

40 to 9 conversion

As Linejudgemick says in his post for the 40 Compact...that`s what I did too. Got the OEM barrel from Midway and the mags from a couple places, mags were a little harder to find than the barrel at the time. To verify, when I say "Compact" I`m speaking of the 3.6" barrel or whatever exactly it is. I can also say I`ve never had any failures to feed, fire, or eject "but" in the 40 iteration it throws empties to the next proverbial county and as a 9 they go 4 ft or so. Would not use 9 barrel except in practice mode.

The Storm Lake conversion barrel and Factory 9mm magazines are the way to go IMHO... This includes the full size magazines (15 or 17) with the X-grip sleeve.
