I just obtained a new 2.0 Metal in 9mm, and although the gun looks cool and feels great, out of the box (cleaned and lubed) it was nothing but failures to eject and light primer strikes. I have never had an M&P 2.0 have this type of problems. Truth be told, I was using some cheap remanufactured ammo and my older 17 round M&P 2.0 magazines. I had a chance to shoot a few rounds today with the new magazines and some blazer brass 115 grain factory ammo. Those worked just fine. I also shot 5 rounds of Hornady Critical defense and I had one light primer strike. M&P has always been known to have light strikes but I have never had issues with any of my other M&P 2.0 firearms. I hope it is just a matter of working the gun in.

On my new M&Ps, I find the recoil springs to be a bit stiff until they've been run in. I usually leave the slide locked back and magazines loaded to compress the springs for about a week or so. Higher power ammo, as you've described, also contributes to a positive experience during the initial break-in period. I like to use 124gr target loads for the first couple hundred rounds and then 115gr will be reliable.
It's also not a bad idea to totally strip down any new pistol to inspect and clean it. You may have grease or debris in the striker channel.

crosseyedshooter makes an excellent point. Every new pistol I purchase I always field strip and give it an extra thorough cleaning and I have not had a problem with pistols that others say they experience issues right out of the box. You just never know what type of manufacturing lube, cutting oil, or debris might be left over in there.

You loaded magazines not issued with the gun with crappy ammo and question the gun. You load the issued magazines with better ammo, and all of a sudden it works fine other than one light strike. Use the proper mags, good ammo, and you'll find you have a fine firearm. Keep in mind, this is a new gun "based" on an existing design, everything isn't necessarily the same. There may be little tweaks required by S&W to make it right because of issues that arise once a larger number are in the field. Good luck.

Whatever you do don't give it liberal lubrication. It'll probably shoot somebody's lung out of the body.
Ha...... lots of KY lube might be more appropriate....

I have good luck running about 100 rounds extremely fast on the first firing with any of my semi auto's. Like you I always clean and lube before the range. I loaded 5 magazines (17rds each) with Freedom Munitions 124gr JHP, walked to the berm and ran them as fast as I could and had no issues. I then shot the next 200 with sanity and purpose. I bought mine on Friday and shot on Saturday. Hope everything works out for you because I feel this is my best M&P. Extremely pleased with the purchase

The gun will run any M&P 17rnd magazine, I don't see this as an issue. I used my Pro Series mags in mine at the range Sat. on the first firing. Can't speak to the ammo
Why do people that have issues with a firearm have only one post??? They never seem to be regulars on forums.

The point of my post is this. Before he even shot the firearm with good ammo and the mags that came with the gun, he loaded **** ammo in old mags and ask why his gun fails. Prove the gun with the mags that came with it and good ammo. If it fails, then complain. If it runs great, then play with other mags and cheap ammo, at least then you'll know it's not the gun at issue.
I was only referring to the magazines. A 17 round 2.0 magazine is a 17 round 2.0 magazine. If he didn't have issues before he shouldn't have had issues using them with the metal. The ammo choice would be solely on him and I can't speak to that. My Metal is now at 500 - 600 rounds without a single issue. I use older magazines as well and shoot only Freedom Munitions reloaded JHP at the range.
