M&P 2.0 Optic Ready and Shield Plus Optic Ready - Iron Sight Zero (Combat vs Center)

Anyone else check what type of hold these pistols are designed for from the factory?

My M&P 2.0 OR full sized has the factory suppressor height sights and with a laser boresighter at 18 yd, it looks like I need to literally align the dots for a combat hold, to the point where the front post is noticeably lower than the tops of the rear sight (line up the dots). If I do a center hold (where the top of the irons line up) it will have a very high POI.

On the Shield Plus OR with factory night sights, it looks to be center-hold (line up the top of the iron sights). I was expecting a combat-hold like my SIG P365X factory night sights.

6 0'clock hold is what I have to use on my Shield Plus. Works for target and combat shooting for me.

My M&P 2.0 10m/m 4" is dead on at 25 yds with Sig 180 grain ammo at 1250 fps. Exactly what I want and very accurate and those tall sights are sure easy to see with aging eyes, I like them a lot.

What type of hold are you using with the stock irons at 25 yd?

My M&P 2.0 Compact 3.6" is combat hold. Have 2 range trips on it now, combat hold is it. I too like the tall sights in front of an older fella.

So when you line up your suppressor height iron sight dots for the combat hold, do you notice the front iron blade/post sitting lower than the tops of the rear irons?

When I line up the dots on the factory low night sights on the Shield Plus and P365X, the tops of the irons are lined up.

My M&P 2.0 front iron sits lower, forms like a "W" when the iron sight dots are lined.

Sight zero

I do indeed, I end up lining up all 3 dots over the target and it is on target. Is this what you are referring to?

Does the top of your front iron sight post sit lower than the tops of the rear iron sight when you line up the 3 dots?

On my M&P 2.0, the front is noticeably lower than the rears when all 3 dots are lined up. First gun I've seen this happen. Usually when the dots are lined up for a combat hold, the tops of the iron sights are lined up as well.

Sights

I see what you are referring to. Yes it does, however, if I really over focus on it, I see what you are referring to. That said, when I line up dots to shoot, I am not focused on it as I am focused on lining up dots. Hope this helps.

metroplex I learn to change how I hold the sights on a colt huntsman with those little black sights when I was 7 year old to adjust for bullet impact do to distance or ammo used. Now 67 years later I still use that ole "kentucky windage" and elevation for TARGET shooting in general and hunting over my younger years .

For defensive practice sight alinement matters far less and hitting center of mass at 40 yards is not hard to do at 15 yards where even a flash over my sights are not used to place rounds on 8" steels firing quickly . At 25 yards and under I can see my sights are centered or not in my peripheral vision and know I'm well centered on a vital area . As yardage increases I may hold a little higher on target and glance at my sights out 40 yards but defensive shooting is NOT target shooting .

Your sight issue can be adjusted if you feel you need to with a Dawson Precision front sight change to a black front sight or even add a fiber optic front sight .

I can tell you my compact 4" optic ready compact has a front sight of .310 and a rear of .345,, well plus or minus a couple thousandths .

I also have never used a sighting laser and never change sights do to where they impact . I carry a M&P 4.25 40sw or a commander in 45. They print differently but I know that so its not an issue .

I'll shoot a 5 shots at 25 yard group off a bench & handgun rest to see how it groups and where . I will adjust windage if needed
and to check bullet impact , check again with 3 rounds at 10 yards and 40 with the ammo I plan to carry in it and I know how to adjust as needed . Just don't pick a handgun based on where a laser points .

Now just when you think you need the right sights watch the video below -

Thanks. This is what I was looking for. I’m glad I wasn’t going crazy. I am not sure why others haven’t noticed this before
