M&P 22 Compact.

The new pistol appears to be an M&P .22 fullsize shrunken down 15%....... beavertail, rail, and all, rather than an analogue for an actual M&Pc in .22.

Had it been an actual external copy of an M&Pc I'd snatch one up, now I'm not so sure.

Thanks for sharing the link, photos answered a lot questions. I'm going to pick one up in a couple weeks once the "new" at retail level wears off.

Sounds to me you should NOT have purchased it........ You could have left it for me:)

Greetings,

I'll take it back right away Sir. :) Nahh... we'll see how it performs with various subsonic rounds first...

So far my Ruger Mark III holds the title as my go to wet work pistol... LOL. Always looking for a replacement.

Take care.

Perhaps due to the fact I am quite opposite of the people who wanted a different product than what the M&P22 Compact is, it's perfect for me.

I've always been a fan of Smith & Wesson but I was always a Glock guy first and foremost. I bought my first personal S&W in my new 15-22 back in early 2010, and never really considered buying an M&P pistol because I'd probably have bought a Glock.

However, I recently bought a M&P Shield 9mm for every day carry, because I needed a specific, dedicated CCW gun for every day usage and the Shield was absolutely perfect for that. Probably because of the fact I was/am so happy with the Shield, the M&P22 Compact appealed to me, and I just happened to find one at a gun show on Sunday...And it was awesome!

Now I don't care that it's not striker fired and not an exact replica of the M&P to train on etc. ... to me, it's an M&P in .22LR, a great little gun that is not exactly "little" and it's a great Smith & Wesson.. everything about it is good for me. Maybe it's not what everyone wanted, i can't really speak to that ,but it's sure all good for me and my use!

I talked to a guy who makes adapters and he has received quite a few inquiries and will be making them. I'll post his details when he has them available.

I take it the M&P 22 adapter definitely doesn't fit? The thread pitch of the Compact version is listed online, but I didn't see it listed for the full size.

I have the SiCo version on my full size. It'd be nice to have one to use with my Spectre II and Warlock II.

I would think from my experience that hammer fired is more reliable.

Is there any kind of an advantage to the 22c being hammer fired instead of being striker fired?
Jihn

The M&P 22 original pistol is also hammer fired. It's been a very reliable pistol. I'm willing to bet that my M&P 22 compact willl have the same results.

i actually like the idea of this new design (at least on paper); as i'm just getting my wife into shooting and i'd prefer she gets her own .22 and leaves my Buckmark alone lol. And this looks to be a good size for her and may giver her some experience with a feel that appears to be similar to my 9c as she considers trying that as well..

again only talking on paper until we hold and shoot one.

;)

The S&W 22c is 100% S&W, the fullsize M&P22 has a Walther action. My S&W rep brought one into the shop and I got to test it on the range, excellent little gun, we put several hundred rounds thru it without a hiccup. I'll try to get some detailed pictures tomorrow.

Definitely not. It requires a 3/8x24 to 1/2x28 thread adapter. The M&P 22 full size Walther barrel is threaded from M8x.75 to .5-28 threads.

I have a Walther adapter and it definitely is a no go substantially. Damn metric system

Greetings,

Soooo... took it out to the range to try out some standard velocity CCI, SubSonicSniper 60 Grains, and some Gemtech Silencer 22LR. Not a single issue straight out of the box with no cleaning, etc. Just a visual safety inspection. The trigger has some travel that takes some getting used to because of that damn safety mechanism.

I didn't take any CCI quiet ammo with me. The slide release is very stiff if that is your normal means of releasing slides.

I like it. Whether or not it will be my primary suppressor pistol remains to be seen once I have an adapter... darn S&W...
