I want to buy my father more magazines for his 22 pistol. I can get the 10 round magazines easy .. Someone said all I need to do is remove a spacer. Is that true ??

Be nice if there was a simple mod to do the same thing for the M&P 22 compact magazines.

FYI. The last set of mp22 mags that I bought, the spacers where glued on. It took quite some time to get the spacer off.

I don't know if it is possible with any other .22
but I got a kit to convert my Sig 226 to 15 rounds , up from 10
Kit included enough to do 3 mags The black items are original, red
upgrade, it also provides stay open after last round that it didn't do before. The kit was only 5.95 delivered works great too

Thanks all .. The video answered everything

I'm a tool and die maker .. If I want to take something off .. It's coming off. It may be destroyed but it's coming off :)

With the compact you just run out of room with the design ..

After reading this thread and viewing the video I converted my 10 Rd to a 12 Rd. The spacer was glued on and came off with a twist, but removing the glue was a pain.

I just bought and received 3 kits that increase the magazine capacity on my full size .22 M&P to 15 rounds. They were easy to install and I hope to give them a try this week. I will post the web address tomorrow. I think each kit cost around $6 plus shipping.

Cost is $12.99 per magazine plus shipping. This modifies a magazine to hold 15 rounds.

Base plates were glued on ..

My base plates were glued on .. 10 minutes in boiling water softened the glue enough that the plates came off..

That seems a little steep to add 3 rounds. Might try em at $6 each, but for less than the price of adding 9 rounds, I can get 2 12 round mags.

I agree. The cost is higher than I wanted but after a near fatal run-in with a couple of copperheads last fall I felt the cost was worth the extra rounds.

I hear ya, its all about what you're trying to accomplish. You can lug more mags around, or maximize what you have.

More to add

I wanted to add to this and make it more clear. The Glue is a hard hot melt glue. Make sure you add the boiling water to another vessel and not put the whole magazine in the pot. The baseplate appears to be made of an alloy of ABS and will melt at 230 to 250 if it touches bottom of a pot. I just dangled the lower section into the water. After 10 minutes I just added pressure until they popped free. (using the same method as you do in remove normal magazine base plates)
The aluminum spacers were VERY glued on. Measure .437 from the top of the spacer and make a line. Saw off the top of the spacer, leaving the line, and you will be at the top of the cruciform peg that the spring sits on in normal 12 round magazines. at a 45 degree angle grind on the side of the remaining aluminum spacer until you hit glue. Try to avoid the peg the spring will sit on. I used a dremel. Once you are thru you will just need a dental pick to remove the rest. Dry, grease and assemble your 12 round magazine.
