Took my new m&p 22 to the range today and i got to say not real happy. I had a number of ftf ,fte ,about 2 or 3 out of 12 on every magazine . Only put about 150 rounds thru it and only fired 1 type of ammo so im not sure it was all the gun. Took it home and cleaned it and had a quite of bit of brass shavings. Yes i cleaned the gun before i took it to the range. So i loaded the mag full thinking it might need broke in and will shoot the heck out of it over memorial day weekend. I will try getting some different type of ammo and we will see what happens. I hope this is just a ammo/ breaking in the gun issue.

Try different ammo. Although not a S&W, my Ruger only works with plated RN bullets. The combination of lube and plain lead will jam it up shortly with the usual cheap bulk bullets.

Make sure the pistol is well lubed in accordance to instructions.

Hang in there, and shoot the heck out of it anyway. Mine was the same, fail to feeds galore. But I kept running rounds through it. The biggest change was how I lubricated it. I used 30w synthetic auto oil and it really started working. It seemed the slide didn't come back far enough to pick up the next round. At first, lead bullets worked better than copper plated. It wouldn't feed Federal Bulk 550s at all, and they were my favorite plinking round. I probably put 1K through it before it really picked up. Now it eats everything I feed it, I just have to keep it lubed. Even dirty, it runs, just need oil. Good luck. I would not give mine up for anything, it is just a blast to shoot. I think if you give it time, oil and ammo it will be just fine. Good luck and great shooting. I was pretty down at first when everybody said how well theirs worked. Now I am reading more post like yours. We are not alone.

Sorry to hear that. I would also follow previous advice and try several different brands of ammo before giving up on it. Mine has been fantastic with everything so far.

Exactly what Shooting Padre said. If you were deep into round count I would look for a problem but really, Its just NEW. I went through 400 rounds of CCI Minimags and Tacticals. Switched to Fed Bulk. Nothing but problems. Back to CCI and no problems. Switch to something else and keep shooting.

Hayden.

I shot 1K CCI Mini Mags through mine to start. I have since shot Fed bulk pack. I have had zero problems to date. Not a single failure of any kind. I do extensively clean all of my weapons after every time I fire them......even if just a few rounds...

I have shot about 500 rounds of CCI Minimags without a malfunction. The federal bulk seemed to malfuntion once per magazine.

I was leaning toward the ammo myself ,will try a few different boxes .. Will shoot it alot next weekend and post back here.

Thanks again. Dave

I bought a M&P22 a couple of weeks ago. I've shot about 500 rounds of CCI standard velocity, Remington high velocity, and American Eagle high velocity through it without any problems at all. I did try some Aguila high velocity with a real light bullet, 25? grain that didn't feed at all but that was it. I shot 3 rounds of it and knew it wasn't going to work.

So far I really like this gun, it's fun to shoot and it is fairly accurate.

The answer is simple, carry gun oil to the range. If the brass isn't shooting far enough, lube it a little. I have several thousand shots through mine and haven't had an issue since. BTW, after several brands of ammo, my favorite for the M&P 22 is CCI Blazer.

It's interesting how these guns have their own personalities. Mine as I said has started to run very well. Yesterday I tried a box of fifty American Eagle HV and they were junk in my gun. Yet yours runs very well with them. I think these .22s need not so much a mechanical adjustment as an attitude adjustment! Glad to hear you are doing well with your gun. Good shooting.

You wouldn't think it would matter since they are the same model gun from the same factory, but go figure. I guess each gun has it own quirks as far as the brand and type of ammo.

So far mine is shooting everything I've put through it with out much trouble at all. The more I shoot it,the better it gets and my groups are getting much tighter too. It's turning into a nice plinker that's cheap to shoot.

Bought some blazer ammo and ran a few hundred rounds thru it today.not as many as the first time but still a few ftf fte . And this i never seen happen before with the slide locked back put in a full mag release the slide lock and first round would stove pipe. Im going to keep puting rounds thru her and if it dosnt get better ill send her in.

wOw .. Mine was well lubed from the factory and I keep it that way. I have never had an issue with any of the ammo I have ran through.

I have about 2000 rnds thru my M&P 22 and so far the only ammo that has given me problems has been the Blazer bulk 525. Mostly FTE's and an occasional FTL and I think 2 FTF out of 1050 rnds. My current favorite is Remington GB 36gr HP. I got them for the wifes and daughters Walther P22 and its the only thing they like so I might as well shoot it also. My M&P 15-22 will shoot the Blazer all day long and into the night though.

I took mine out for the first time today and put 100 rounds through it. I used CCI with no problems. The person that I bought it from told me that he has not heard of any problems, but it is best to use CCI in the beginning.
