M&P .22 range report and review!

Okay, let me get his straight. Someone still makes .22lr ammo?

That stuff is as rare as _______. (fill in the blank)
Yeah, it's hard to find at LGS at a reasonable price. I have been able to get it on lime from Cabela's from time to time. Stuffs like gold.

Nice review. It took mine a little while to warm up to anything other than CCI. It shoots everything now though. It's a great companion to the FS.

All M&P'S shoot high?

All M&P22's shoot high, even with the rear sight all the way down. If you want POA at 25 yards, which is where I like it, install a Dawson .180 FO on the front. If you want FO's front and rear, use a Dawson .160 in front and their FO in the rear. The Dawson sights come with a .040 fiber rods in them. I drilled out the front, used aluminum black to re-color it and installed a .060 fiber rod in it. Picks up much quicker now.
Also, it takes about ten minutes to clean up the hammer (with a sharp Arkansas stone), where it contacts the sear and with a tiny dab of aluminum anti-seize, will drop your trigger pull from 6lbs to about 3lbs.
My M&P 40 is dead on POA. Now my M&P 22 - well you got it right. It shoots high. And I have the rear sight as low as it will go.

My M&P was shooting high with the factory rear sight. I installed a Burris FastFire II for awhile than took the rear sight off my M&P .45 pellet gun installed it on the .22 (perfect fit) now it's dead on at 10 and 15 yards.
It has 2 yellow dots.

My M&P .22 is shooting without any sights install. :p

Did you mean it was shooting high? :)

I have had good luck replacing the factory rear sight with a standard M&P rear sight.(Two white dots)

Seems to be there's quite a variance of high/low with the .22s. A lot of that is probably ammo variations which are HUGE among .22s. I still think it's best to have an elevation-able rear sight.

Yep. I've done two of them now, mine and a buddy's. Just a little filing with a diamond file on the sight's front dove and it fits like a champ. They both seem to be perfect too despite the fact that we lost elevation control with the upgrade.

I agree. After I changed mine, the elevation seemed to be excellent.
