A while back I posted I had picked up a like new used M&P .22 in one of my favorite local pawn shops. See link below.

Well I finally got it to the range today. I shot it with my Prodigy suppressor attached and shot several mags full of Federal bulk pack through it without a hitch. After a slight adjustment of the rear sight it was hitting dead on at 25 yards. I'm very impressed as it performed much better than anticipated, considering the amount of negative comments I've read here and other places about this model's inadequacies. And I was just a little concerned about such a new looking gun being used and for sale. At any rate I'm very happy with this gun and look forward to a lot of shooting in the future, suppressed and otherwise!

Sounds like a good time, glad it shoots well. They are very fun pistols. I keep bugging myself to get a suppressor. One of these days...

You'll usually hear a lot about the "bad" things going on. Some,I've often wondered if they even own one or are just standing on the "bandwagon" from other forums and love complaining about anything.

Just figure all the good ones are out being used and have zero complaints. All seven of my M&P handguns have been flawless and no complaints what so ever.

I just bought a M&P .22 recently as well.
Took it out to the range over the weekend. I shot 200 rounds of CCI mini-mag with no issues.
Good to hear you had good success with federal bulk, I will be using that next time.

In the research I did before buying this gun, the only bad things I came across were ammo related.
Most people seemed to have success with CCI and Federal bulk as far as I could tell, which is pretty much the only brands I use for .22

You know, I just remembered, in addition to the Federal stuff, I also shot a 100 rds of Blazer .22 through it and my new Ruger .22/45 Lite. Both handled these rounds equally as well, though I must admit the Smith held the edge on accuracy. If this keeps up, I'll have to buy some more cans so that I have enough for all my .22 pistols!

More range time to follow........................

I seem to be having better performance with the Blazer bulk .22 ammo. I had more FTE with the Federal bulk.

I wonder about the problems with the M&P 22. So far I have shot over 1500 rounds through mine. It was a mix of Blazer, Federal, Remington lightning, and Winchester. So far no problems at all. And I have only cleaned it once. Two of my friends bought one the same time as me and they have the same results. Excellent pistols.

Mine was a little brand fussy with Federal blue box it never got through 1 mag as 1 to 4 rounds failed to fire per mag with lots of low powered shots.. Nope not the ammo! I got a handle on it and it's fixed.. I would say QC At Walther factory followed by S&W lack of going over and testing larger Lot's of the M&P 22's is a issue like any other item sometimes people just don't do there job.. They just need to spend a little more attention to QC and I think they have to do this after there imported to the USA at there factory's..But yes the M&P 22 is a fine gun, fun gun, fast and actuate gun that runs much cleaner after the fix. and this i say after much deliberation and actual shooting.. George

I like the M&P22 so much I bought 2, one for the wife and one for me. Of all the 22 clones that Walther makes this is hands down the best one. Enjoy yours.

Some of the problem is ammo being outsourced to offshore manufacturing too. Their quality control sucks. I remember buying 22 ammo years ago of "almost" any brand and hardly having ANY problems with it. Now I wouldn't buy or touch some of them. I remember the days when a brand name ment quality.

I too shoot the M&P.22. It is a great gun. Don't pay attention to all the hype....most who complain don't even own the gun or never shot the M&P.22. Love mine...shoots fantastic. If you can't shoot it....you may need to check you technique.

I own it and my technique is fine, thank you very much, and it has been anything but great. I've tried different ammo and got similar results. Consistent failure to eject on the first round at a minimum. Some have said to try a different magazine and I will try that next, but so far I have not been pleased with this gun and I'm not the only one:

Have you tried using a number less than full magazine capacity to see if it still happens? For example, 9 rounds or 8 rounds and see if you have the same issue? I have this issue with other 22 auto pistols.

Just on the first round? Sounds like a problem with the way you rack it on the first round.

What am I missing here? The M&P .22 is so quiet when shooting, why would you spend good money for a suppressor? And no I do not believe the SWHTF so is it because you shoot indoors? Mine ate up most of my 15 yr old Remington(I believe)w/o a single issue. Now have the CCI and it is just as good. And after finding out mine had the 10rd mag but i could adjust it to 12 rd, it is damn near perfect, lol!

Ha. No.

I can easily duplicate the problem with almost every reload of the gun when running Winchester, regardless of how I rack it, and if I bet someone $20 that the first round doesn't eject I'd have a pocket full of cash by the end of 10 magazines.

With Federal bulk it requires constant racking to get through a magazine. It completely chokes on that stuff. I tried at least three magazines of Federal and it wasn't liking it at all so I went back to a magazine of Winchester and the first round wouldn't eject...as predicted. Runs through the magazine just fine after that hiccup.
