I had many ftf and stove pipes with rounds from the original mag that came with the gun.after getting another mag i found that the original was causing the problems. With the orignal mag full i would let the slide release go or rack the slide and the first round would stove pipe . The 2nd mag i got didnt have this problem.aslo with the original mag the first 3-4 rounds would ftf the 2nd mag No problem. Call s&w cs they sent a shipping label and will be sending it back on monday. First dealing with s&w cs so far no complaints. If ypur 22 is having these problems it may be the mag. And yes i cleaned and checked the original mag first .

What was the reponse from S&W on your magazine? I have three doing this do some extent.

I suggest to be extra careful when loading the mags.. If you push all the way down on the thumb follower button drop in a few rounds and then you finger slides off the follower button this will send the few rounds up to the mag feed lips with force and widen them.. If you slam the mag home with the slide open when reloading this will also cause this issue in a small amount of time.. 22's are sensitive to this. I'm telling you the feed lips on the mags are spread some.. This will cause the feeding round to stove pipe as they feed. Easy fix though. With some long nose pliers bend lips down just a hair..Had this issue with other guns too! George

Been treating my mags 'gently' so to speak and have never had an issue (1200 ish rounds so far). Even shot the ammo they book says to avoid (as the science channel says, I question everything!).
Got the mag that came with it, another 25r and two 10s (so my son can shoot prone). All have fed 100% perfectly with all ammo.

I had to lightly sand my new mags
Rough spots smoothed out around the entire top where you load it
Solve my ftf and fte issues

Suply and demand

I am just wondering, if our LGS can get the shield in, why cant Buds? A large store should be able to demand more stock than mom and pops.

I had numerous issues w/ mine...feeding and firing Sent it back to S&W and it was returned w/out an explaination:confused:. I called and they said they polished the feed ramp and test fired it w/ Hi-velocity ammo...no issues. I test fired it and the failures to fire continued but to a lesser extent, but experienced a stove pipe:eek:. I may try another mag as recommended above.

S&W tech support told me to tweak the mag feed lips inward very slightly, to eliminate the top round standing up when doing a fast reload. I have ten mags, did it to all of them and now they all work fine. Don't tweak them too far though.

I just got the M&P 9. Put two 17rnd mags through it, no problems.
Returned later in the day to the range with my girlfriend... Every other shot she took was a misfeed, or stovepipe.
I took the gun, finished off the mag without a hitch.
I told her to stiffen her wrists, and she didn't have a feed issue for the next 40 or so rounds...
Limp wrist is a problem with this gun. Stiffen up, and the problem might be solved...
Just my 2 cents.

The OP is taking about the M&P 22 pistol. Limp wristing will hardly be a factor here.

I take care to just snap the mags in, not slam em. The only failures I've had through about 350 rounds is a couple of fail to fire, and I attribute those to the ammo, Winchester bulk 333. I have used about 7 other brands and velocities with no prob.

I think the OP has rectified the problem since he hasn't posted in almost a year (that or he sold the pistol )
