M&P .22 WMR pistol update

I have about 500 rounds through mine and it has gotten much more reliable. The first 100 were a bit irritating, but now it seems fine.

I would also like to note that after 2500 rds. with no additional lube or cleaning, that there is almost no signs of wear anywhere. Just some normal blue loss on the slide rails. Dirt, crud and carbon were non existent except around the gas port/ piston rings, and even then it was a lot less than I expected. But for those of you horrified that I could "ruin" my gun by doing this, I cleaned and lubed it. So you all can breathe now. It now sits on my wife's nightstand with full confidence that it will do what it's supposed to when it's supposed to.

That all sounds good, but I think I will continue with a light cleaning after each shooting session. I have a couple of Marlin rifles that have been in the family for 72 years now and still look almost new, inside and out.

I didn't even know that there was an M&P in 22WMR. I have a nice 351C that I like to shoot. I even carry it from time to time.

That's the second 351C. The first I bought used and after a few range trips the fired shell casings started to bind in the cylinder making it hard to eject.

I sent it back to S&W and they told me that it was not repairable, so they shipped me a new one. That one have a lot of FTFs, so it went back.

They did a number of repairs, including replacing the yoke and the firing pin. It's been fine since I got it back, but it shouldn't have had to go in the first place.

Which probably won't stop me from by a M&P 22WMR at some point.

The Walther WMP is the much better gun.

It's fine to express your opinion, but that is just your opinion. It MAY be the better gun for you. After checking out a Walther the other day, it is bulkier, heavier and harder to operate for people with smaller hands. THAT is fact.
I believe that with it being blowback operated instead of gas, ( or did I miss something? If I'm wrong let me know, but I didn't see it as being gas operated) it should be more finicky about what ammo it will function with.
Now, if you are going to state that the Walther is a "better pistol" as a fact, then please give us facts as to WHY it is the better pistol. If, in fact it is, awesome, I'll go buy one.

Dvus along with what sounds like a great gun , a great experiment you also have volumes of " tact" Hat's off to you! Happy shooting!

I have more M&P's than I need, but the M&P .22WMR is a want to have. I've read the gun writer's reports and they all give it a 5/5 as most do on any review. Anybody who is a proud or otherwise owner care to post their opinion?
I obtained a M&P .22WMR when they first came out, originally just to add it to my collection but after trying it, I found that I really liked it. I do find that I wish the handgrip was a bit different molded to make it a bit more comfortable, but after using my Dremel tool to round off the edges a of the grip a bit, so they were not so sharp, I really started to enjoy it. No matter what other M&P (pistol, revolver or rifle) that I take to the range, I always take it with me as well; and enjoy it very much. I also did a bit of work on a Magula and was able to modify one to work with the magazines.
