I saw an M&P pistol in .22lr the other day and it really looked interesting...
what's the general opinion of it, and will the Apex action parts work in it?
Thanks,

I don't know about the APEX parts...

...but I picked one up about a month ago and it is a real treat to shoot. I've run really crummy stuff (RP Thunderbolt) and good stuff (CCI Stingers) and all fed and fired. I had several failures of the slide to lock after the last round in the magazine but I found a lot of grease in and around the catch there that I hadn't cleaned out. Since I did that, it seems like that problem is gone.

The gun feels great in the hand and points well. It's unfortunate that I shake like a bridge over the San Andreas fault during an earthquake when I shoot a pistol. However, rested at 10 yards, it's fairly easy to get groups of less than
2", or so.

The barrel is threaded and the next step is to get the tax stamp and the suppressor to shot it in my back yard.

I like it a lot.

I got mine on Jan 4th and have since put 1600 rounds through it without any problems.

Got it to get my wife into shooting and she loves it. Great practice gun if you have anything bigger and don't want to spend a fortune on ammo.

I like it and I have plenty of others to shoot when I want, .22 and centerfires. I even picked up 2 extra mags at the LGS today.

How do you guys like the trigger? I looked at one at my local store and the trigger had to be the worst i've felt on any smith. Did i look at a bad one or are they all long, rough, gritty and feel like 20 pound pull? I like the way it felt in my hand but had to pass on it because of the trigger.

Thanks
Bill

I've run over 1000 rounds through mine in the last couple months with maybe 5 FTFs (probably ammo) and 1 stovepipe. Not a concern for me at all. Runs everything I put through it and is fairly accurate to boot.

I have the APEX kit in my M&P9 so there's no comparison between the two. About the only way I could describe the trigger is that its a little more mechanical feeling, but still smooth enough for me. Makes a nice practice weapon and fires much cheaper ammo!

My daughter (she's 23), who I never thought would be the least bit interested in guns, loves it and can't wait for the next opportunity to hit the range with me. Gotta love that!

Buy it! You'll have a blast (pun intended).:D

Thanks for all the feedback, it really helps.

Anyone else have issues with the trigger?

I walked into my favorite LGS yesterday to do a little recreational gun looking and walked out with a S&W M&P22. I bought it based upon the way it felt in my hand and the very enthusiastic recommendation of the store owner. The range is closed today. The gun was field stripped and cleaned yesterday. I will post a range report once I shoot it. As aslap said, I am thinking of putting on a suppressor.

They didn't have any extra mags, but he said they were on order.

My M&P 22 has a very light and smooth trigger. It takes less effort to pull than my 9mm.

I wonder if the one you tried was dirty. When you say "gritty" that sounds like sand or something like it in the mechanism. I have none of that.

Triggers not perfect but it's not bad either. It has smoothed out too. Mine doesn't like the waxy bulk ammo but it'll shoot Federal Champion bulk, CCI Stingers and Mini-Mags all day. I have about 5k through it.
You won't be disappointed.

Approximately three weeks ago I received two extra magazines for the M&P 22 from Smith and Wesson. At that time I was told that they had received a shipment and had plenty of them...

love mine..Had some problems with ejection my first day out but i think i didn't oil enough...flawless second time out. picked up a second mag and now i'm waiting on sights i bought..really don't like the rear sight. Picked up a set for 15 off a .40 I love the feel and size. Other .22 were pretty small for my hands.
