Today I bought an M&P 22 from a LGS that was closing them out for $329. Pretty good price I thought so I got it for my girls to shoot with me. Pick up on 2/19.

Good choice, although I prefer a revolver for inexperienced shooters. I hope that you already have a hoard of .22 LR.

Welcome to the world of M&P 22. It is a great gun for plinking or practice or warm up for larger cal. Only problem right now is ammo supply. Luckily the M&P 22 does well with most any 22lr ammo.

Mine seems to like round nose better than hollow points. I don't think I've ever had a FTF/FTE with RN but I get one or two per hundred with HP. I also like the higher velocity stuff - anything over 1200 fps feels best to me (my favorite is the 1750 fps Augila Super Maximum but you can never go wrong with the MiniMags). Enjoy the M&P 22 it is a fun pistol.

I got one for the same price at a store in Martinez, CA a couple weeks ago. He said he had several on hand and didn't want to get stuck with them when the fall off the list in May.
Congrats.

I love mine, my wife loves hers. It shoots anything I put in the magazine. You should get a few extra magazines to help the ease of constantly reloading because of all the fun you have from shooting this pistol. Between me and my wife we have 12 magazines.

I just got mine last week and have put about 200 rounds through it...2 FTE's from some old-old ammo I had...switched to new CCI and no problems...I like mine a lot...have fun..hope your girls enjoy it

Bought mine about 2 months ago. Hopped online the same day and Midway had 12 Round mags on sale for just under $22 ea. (bought 5). They've got the 10's right now. Converting those to 12 takes minutes (search U-tube for video).

Plan on changing out the sights. Mine shot very high so I bought the front Dawson .175 (a little higher than the recommended .160, very easy do it yourself job). I left the rear adjustable stock site on. Worked out very well for me. Great practice gun. Has definitely helped me improve my M&P 9 & 45 FS shooting. Built confidence with the good groupings I get with the 22. Transferring the form to the bigger calibers has dramatically helped there. I was really bad with the M&P's before (different than my DA/SA guns).

Have fun!!

My M&P 22 is the only handgun in my house, so it's my home defense. Since it doesn't have stopping power, every shot must count, even in a panic situation. I mounted a laser on the rail, zeroed it in my garage, and took it to the range to check it out. It worked great at 7 yards. Just point and shoot and it put 8 fast shots on target and in a 5 inch pattern.

Thinking about picking one up myself, in fact going to look around tomorrow locally for a decent price. Gander has them on sale but their price is still pretty high imo. Academy usually has better prices, but not sure if they have any right now.

Just skimmed the thread but it looks like much of what I was going to say has been mentioned:

- 12 round magazines are really 10 rounders with the spacer removed. Buy what you can get the best price on (or find at all) as long as you're not limited to 10 rounds.
- Gun likes a little hotter ammo, 1200 fps+ at least for several hundred rounds or more for break in (I'd recommend CC Mini Mags, AR Tactical, or equivalent). Things will loosen up and run more reliably with some of the marginal lower powered ammo.
- Cleaning/treating with Frog Lube a few times seems to help things get a little slicker and run more consistently as well.

Greatest little .22 for the price. I love mine, compliments my M&P9. I added a optic and can't wait for winter to mellow out so I can get out and shoot. Here is my gun.

No that looks like a FAB DEFENCE USM
I like Fab Defence, I have one of their butt stocks on my AR 15, it's pretty cool, it holds a spare mag in it. Comes with a 10 round mag, but you can put what ever you want in it.
