Just purchased my first ever pistol the M&P 40 PRO. I have fired several different pistols overtime and never experienced a thing like that. My sense is that something is hitting the trigger during the cycle that should 't. Before I declare a problem I wanted to know what some of you who are familiar with the workings think about this. Is there some inherrent nature to this mechanism that telegraphs other actions back into the trigger?

The pull is smooth and consistent and I like it better than others I have fired except my son's Kimber 1911 40. That is a nice trigger but mine is nice enough except for the sting. I am good for about 25 rounds and the fingertip is mush.

Trigger Sting is a rainbow colored unicorn. Some people believe it exists others don't. Hickcock 45 is a firm believer. I've never experienced it myself but I play a lot of golf and have had my fair share of altercations in my time so my hands aren't very sensitive. If it is really causing you a problem then I would suggest you change to an APEX trigger. No one knows the cause. Some say it's the trigger curve others hot ammo and some say it's holding the trigger back after firing. It also could be arthritis or trigger finger disease. If you can't comfortably shoot at least 100 rounds you have a problem and it's most likely your finger not the gun.

I experienced the same on mine. Like a bite on the trigger finger. I personally think it is because of where the hinge is on the trigger. It's high up on the trigger in my opinion and "pinches" my finger. I changed out my trigger to Apex aluminum with the center bar and the problem went away. So I'm fairly convinced it is the trigger design.

I guess that decides it in favor of APEX trigger.
Just looking at it I thought perhaps it has something to do with the hinge or being a bit too curved under the finger. I am pretty sure it is not my hands. They are pretty tough. I run chainsaws and work on tractors and fired various other pistols owned by my sons. The Kimber 1911 with some sort of modification is a dream for sure. There is a new trigger in my future probably but in the meantime this otherwise nice shooting M&P 40 trigger sting is weird. I mean ouch for real.

I believe it. I had a CZ75 that actually hurt after a few rounds. A new trigger fixed it, but whether it will fix your pistol is anybody's guess. Good luck!

I have never felt the sting or bite or pinch and have a number of brands of handguns some being one makes and models that bothers others . Maybe adjust how your finger sets in the trigger . If it only bothers you when shooting a number of rounds maybe do as Hickok does and put a brand aid on your finger .

Buy a pair of baseball batting gloves its a cheap fix for me.

I have a Pro 40 and never did experience any 'trigger sting' with the stock trigger, but I put the Apex duty/carry kit in the gun along with their polymer trigger. If you're basically happy with the trigger pull other than the stinging, you can replace the trigger without doing the full action enhancement kit. The trigger was very straightforward to replace and fairly priced.

I have a M&P 45 Midsize and the factory trigger was stinging my trigger finger. It was due to the shape of the trigger and where it hit my finger. I installed an Apex polymer trigger and it solved the problem.
