I was able to get a couple boxes of the Federal HST bullets. These are the DHS issue rounds so I think they are designed for a full size barrel. I wanted to know if anyone has had a chance to run them through a compact and what the opinions are. With there o ly being .75" difference I don't think there will be much difference but I don't have the tools or enough ammo to do any kind of real testing.

I picked up 3 boxes of 50 rounds each several months ago, $20 a box. I had no problems with this ammo and my .40c. Shot a hundred with no problems. I hung on to the last box of 50.

Fast forward a few months to the last box of 50. I loaded 3 10 round magazines and 1 15 round magazine. For a total of 45 HST rounds. I had these full mags in the safe for a about a week and when I checked them...several rounds 10-12 had a small ring indentation all the way around the brass cases. I pulled them asside a re-boxed them. It seems the brass cases are a little on the weak side.

These are real nice personal defense rounds, but the brass cases may be abit on the weak side and be more sutible for practice. At least that's my experience with the .40 180gr. Federal HST (White box brass).

I'm well stocked with 180 HSTs, they run fine in all 3 of my M&P 40s (Full size, compact & Shield), very impressive ballistics with them. IMO best defensive round for a handgun.

Federal HSTs for handguns, Hornady for rifles & Hornady or federal for 12 gauge, I keep it simple.
