Been seriously contemplating purchasing one. Looked at tone with a safety and did not like the safety.
Is this a good pistol? Should it have the safety?

My only m&p is the 45c. It took me forever to decide on it and after careful consideration that's what I chose. Unbelievable pistol. Hidden gem of the m&p's. No regrets

I carried a Colt officers ACP for 22 years and finally switched to a M&P 45c 2 years ago because of back problems.
The 45c is as accurate as my old officers, weighs half as much, and I swear that it kicks less than the Colt.
The only drawback to the Smith is that I can't get a Crimson Trace grip for it yet. It does have tritium sights so I guess it's a trade off.
I'm glad I switched to the Smith.

The 45C is my favorite M&P in my collection. I updated mine with a Talon Rubber Grip, APEX DCAEK, and Trijicon HD sights. Its a soft shooting sweetheart and very accurate!

I'm in the process of making the same updates to my 9MM Shield. I should be finished with it by tomorrow.

I've got a 45c and love it. DCAEK installed because it was purchased in Mass with 10.5lb trigger.
It shoots as well as my 1911.

A real sleeper in the M&P line. Mine is becoming my favorite handgun. I have had a full size .40 and a .40 c, and the 45c fits my hand better than either of those. Mine has the safety. I ordered it that way, just because I like a safety on a pistol, but it's easily removed if you want to.

I don't see any downside, so buy it with confidence, and let us know how you like it.

X2 on the talon grips and the apex DCAEK kit. Mine didn't need it by any means but I'm glad I went with both. Some new trijicons hd's and this pistol is complete.

Got mine about a month ago. put 150 rounds through it the first day and been loving it ever since. I've been carrying it in a raven VG2, but got the INCOG eclipse today, so time to go train again.

you can always leave the safety off, it will perform like an MP without safety then.

Out of all my M&P's my 45c is the most accurate. However, due to it's size I carry my Shield's and compact models more. It's my backup bedside gun to my 1911.

45c is an awesome carry size in my opinion. Keep the 8 round flat base plate on and it disappears on me with my alien gear holster.

The 45c is loved by so many people on here that it's got me looking at them too. It is certainly a good gun and can fill several important roles. It's surely the way to go if you are looking for a carry gun and insist on 45. But with absolutely no desire to reignite the old 'which caliber is best' debate I'll just throw in that the Shield is substantially smaller and, thus IMO considerably easier to conceal. And personally, I would just as soon have a full size pistol for a house gun or fun paper punching.
