I have and love my fs 9mm and feels perfect to me! I would like a 45 but am wondering if its identical to the 9mm and 40sw size pistols??

In regards to the grip, the 45 is a smidge thicker. A .45 with a small back strap should be similar to a 9mm/.40 with a medium back strap.

Honestly the difference is so small I have all my pistols with the medium back strap and I barely notice a difference.

its definitely larger. i can close my eyes and swap between the 9 and 45 and definitely tell the difference. regardless of backstrap. its not a lot but is enough to know.

My FS 45, for whatever its worth, was loose in a Blackhawk SERPA designated to fit the Glock 21/M&P 45. It did fit in a Highnoon pancake style (after removing the tension screw to clear the differences in the trigger guard shape), which I then used until my Milt Sparks order came in. The 45's just a little thicker overall, but not all that bad.

I have both the 9mm and 45ACP in FS. I have a medium size hand and use the medium backstrap on the 9, but the small on the 45. The grip is definitely fuller/thicker on the 45. I put the Crimson Trace grip on the 9, and its perfect. I thought it would be interchangeable on the 45, but I feel that it is larger than I would like although I do not know that it dramatically impacts my accuracy for the worse.

My M&P is a 45 compact, and it is very close in over all size to my Glock 9mm model 26.

No. Close, but no banana. There is a noticable difference. To me it's a great grip size and you know your shooting something bigger. Fills my hand like it was made for it. I have ALL the 9's and like/love the grip on them too. I wouldn't like shooting the FS 45 if the grip felt like the FS 9.
Go feel one if you can.
