I was thinking of getting an M&P 45c for ccw. I currently carry a 4516 or 457 both good 45 compacts, but I've been trying to get a good holster for months with no success, the 4516 ia a great gun but its heavy, and the 457 recoil leaves something to be desired. Does anyone have both of theses types that can compare them? I haven't found the 45c to try out yet.

Thanks.

Good to see another fellow EMT here.

I have both a M&P45c and a 4513TSW. Frankly, the weight difference between the two is very small, 26.2 and 28.6 oz respectively. With a fully loaded mag, the difference is less because of the additional rounds that go in the M&P. (A double-edged sword!!)

I like the trigger system on the alloy framed 4513 better and holster availability is good.

You might be surprised I've been an Army medic and Paramedic for 20 years now, and most of the people I have worked with shoot.

Yeah I'm very fond of the double action trigger too, not real enthusiastic about the longer DAO trigger, and I love the all stainless 4516. Though I wish mine had night sights.

Thats interesting that there is not much wieght difference, my 457 feels much lighter with its aluminum frame, but also has a lot more muzzle flip too.

I think my main concern is how hard it is to find accessories especially holsters. I've had one on order for nearly four months now and everytime I call I'm told its on the way. Well maybe it is, or maybe not I'll just have to wait and see.

Besides its a good excuse to buy another gun lol.

Holster

Check out Crossbreed holster. I carry a 4506, very comfortable, weight is still an issue. I they dont list your model give them a call. They dont list the 4506 either but it fits great. Price is reasonable and you should get it within a couple weeks.
