With a full mag and the slide rearward, when I insert the full mag firmly, the slide goes forward on its own....called S&W customer service and the rep said this is the way it is suppose to work as it is the design of the Military and Police pistol....does this sound right to you?

My M&P 9 Full size does this but only if I am holding it at a 45 or so degree angle and apply good force to slam it in, this is known as auto forwarding and some people like it (myself included) while others do not ( I do not know why though)!

Just look at it as as benefit in combat or even at the range as it is one less motion of racking the slide to be ready for the next shot!

Not sure it's intentional but lots of autos do that, nothing to worry about.

Have the mid version 45 MP and when you slam a new mag in hard it cycles the slide. Very normal and in a fight, a great advantage.

I have heard many conflicting stories about whether this was intentional or a flaw. Mine does it, and I kind of like it. On the m-p forum, there is a thread that addresses how to correct it.
