Shield Plus mags fall apart during insertion

Everybody complained about the previous extended magazine sleeves.
  • "The sleeves are too loose."
  • "The sleeves can come off when you are trying to remove a mag."
  • "The sleeves may not be in place when you try to insert a mag."

S&W fixed the problem with loose magazine sleeves. If there is one thing you can say about the Shield Plus magazine sleeves, it is that they are certainly not loose.

To me, this issue looks a lot like M&P pistols auto-forwarding. People complained non-stop about auto-forwarding until S&W made a design change to absolutely fix auto-forwarding ... and people promptly complained about the fix.

I don't see any reason a traditional style base couldn't have a tab at the back that would insert into the sleeve when pressed fully rearward.

That sounds like a great idea as an alternate approach. Then the question becomes whether to design, patent and sell the product or just give the idea to S&W and hope they implement it.
