M&P 4th change?

Stoped at the LGS today and they have a nice M&P 4th change? If I remeber correctly, barrel was marked 38 S&W CTG. Grips are orginal dished at top with no emblem. I didn't take them off to make sure they number to gun. all serial numbers match barrel, grip frame and under ejector. guns in about 90% or maybe a little better.

What would be fair retail price? Serial number 4021XX MFG date?

Blue, Nickel, engraved, barrel length, target sights or service sights? All these impact value. Tell us more about the gun. The serial number puts in in the 1920-30 range. Ed.

A couple things don't seem quite right here.
Are you sure the barrel legend didn't say .38 S&W Special CTG? Seems like it should.
Second, a non-medallion "dished" (as in concave) stock circle would come from 1910 or earlier. On a gun with this serial number, the stock circle should be convex. I'll post a couple photos.
I agree with Ed, the serial number points to the early 1920s.

It is blued has service sights and convex grips. And my guess on barrel length would be 6 in. I didn't measure it. It looks just like second pick above, except it doesn't have the Made in USA stamp.

Information provided previously is correct. Without the Made in USA stamp and at that SN, it would probably be 1922. Value? In 90% condition, I'd say maybe $300-350 in normal times, but at present prices for everything are in a state of flux.

While these guns didn't ship in numerical order, I have one, S/N 416xxx, that dates to December of 1922.
